Israel continued its attacks on southern Lebanon today, targeting a vehicle traveling in the village of Bafliyeh with a drone, killing four Hezbollah members. The drone attack started a fire, which locals are still struggling to extinguish.
Hezbollah issued a statement confirming the deaths of three of its fighters. Israel declined to comment, per usual, saying they do not comment on reports of military action originating in foreign media.
Lebanese officials confirmed that all four deaths were Hezbollah members. It is unclear, however, exactly who they were or what their responsibilities were.
Hezbollah said they responded to the deaths by launching several attacks on Israeli military sites near the northern border. It is unclear which of the many military sites in the area have been targeted.
The deaths come just a day after another round of Israeli military strikes killed five people, including two members of Hezbollah. The others slain were identified as members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
Deadly airstrikes from Israel have increased in recent weeks, and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that he expects this to be a “hot summer.” Hezbollah has also stepped up attacks, mostly targeting Israeli military targets.
