For the first time in a months, Israel carried out a missile attack against Syria, targeting the capital city of Damascus and suburbs in the southern region near the border.
Syrian state media reported that air defenses were activated and intercepted a number of missiles. There is no report yet on damage caused or any casualties. State media reported earlier that there were only material losses.
As always, Israel has not commented on the attack, nor what they hoped to accomplish. Reports of Syrian operations against ISIS in the south may have Israel keen to get the military near the border.
The last strike was September 17, where Israel attacked the Damascus Airport, killing five.Israel has been attacking Syria for years, and while claiming neutrality in the war, Israeli officials conceded they preferred ISIS to the Assad government.
Israel, the world’s biggest sponsor of state terrorism.
And no one else even comes close, S, with the exception of the United Snakes.
ISIS preferable to Assad? IsraHell, you’re becoming more psychotic by the moment.
If any other country pulled this crap, we’d bomb them to kingdom come… I’d be willing to make a bet… I believe Israel would actually use nukes, at some point, and justify it…
Ah, no. That would be the US.
Israel prefers ISIS ? One knows Israelis by their friends.
They want all the adjacent states to be Islamic fundamentalist run.
Iraq was secular. Need to overthrow.
Syria is secular. Need to overthrow.
Just peachy with Saudi Arabia.
PLO was secular—so they funded HAMAS.
That way they can claim to be the most Western and only logical ally in the ME
Hams was born in a refugee camp. A few years ago, Hamas won a general election. That reaction by Israel and the U.S. was swift.
How is it that I s r a e l can just reach out and bomb a suburb in another country? To put it in perspective…… Canada decides to bomb Buffalo NY or Seattle WA suburbs.
Israel just seems to get away with it, all the time. I bet Israel can lob some nukes and still come out smelling like a rose…
Right. So let’s say a country with the stated purpose of destroying Canada sets up bomb making factories and warehouses full of missiles in Buffalo 200 km from the Canadian border…
Troll
That ‘stated purpose” thing is an exaggeration used at the convenience of the Israeli government. That and “state sponsor of terrorism”. These things give Israel the right to claim self-defense even when they use terroristic actions themselves and continuously push for war against Iran.
You can call it an exaggeration. Israel takes the Iranian leadership at their word when they call Israel “a cancerous tumour” that needs to be “wiped off the map”. Why do you not believe them?
Israel ***IS*** “a “cancerous tumour” that needs to be “wiped off the map”.
(By the way, Iran never said the “wiped off the map” thing, but never mind, that’s just one of many petty lies, too many to count, coming out of the Zionist lie factory.)
Why do ***you, Odelle,*** support Zionist criminality? Tribal exceptionalism? An indifference to justice? A belief in the subhuman uselessness of those not of your tribe? Brain damage?
What’s your excuse, Odelle?
My excuse is that I know the history of my people and that despicable people like you who spout bilious hate as you do mean what they say and should not be ignored. I hope that’s clear enough.
I am of the bloodline as well, Odelle. And I know the history as well: 5000 years of predatory behavior resulting in the ever-predictable reaction. Stop lying to yourself, Odelle. 5000 years is long enough for anyone to learn their lesson. Why haven’t you?
As for me, it’s simple: I choose justice over criminal complicity.
Well then you must have the “useful idiot” mutation.
That is a bit below the belt Odele and hardly justifiable. The ass of humanity is on the line, that is why many of us participate here. You don’t need to be ‘part of the problem’, you need to be ‘part of the solution’… If you cannot do either, may I suggest: it’s time to build a really good bomb shelter….
Please Donna. I know you mean well. But you make it sound like “the ass of humanity is on the line” because of Israel. I suggest to you that israel behaves as she does because she is surrounded by hostile actors that wants to destroy her. And when Jeff writes about the “5000 years of predatory behaviour” he is referring to the Jews (not just Israel). He could be a regular columnist at Der Sturmer.
Hi Odele:
Our options in this life are limited… We can either learn from our mistakes or we can continue to repeat them. This is true of everyone…
What generates hate? Nakba? Dier Yassin? Continual occupation since 1948? Bombing Syria, Lebanon, and other countries? Killing an Iranian general (you can bet Israel was in on that)? Moshe Dayan must be rolling in his grave. He said (in 1967) that if in 10 years Israel was still an occupier, that would mean the end of the Israel experiment. Well. Israel still is. Israel is the only territory (I believe Israel is an illegal nation, that did not have the requisites to become a nation in 1948) in the area that has nukes. As an American, I will never, ever respect or forgive Israel for what it did to the U.S.S. Liberty in 1967. Our government is so GD weak! Really. G-d Bless the one pilot who refused to fire on the Liberty. A man of honor.
Well said Jeff, well said….
Very antiwar huh? LOL
I’ve heard the same rhetoric coming out of Israel. What do you call begging for war since 1992? And why would Israel not embrace the moderates who were in power? Why is there never any talk from our state department about getting Iran and Israel at a negotiating table for talks? Why didn’t the Abraham Accords include Iran? And their giving assistance to ISIS in Syria? At what point does it become obvious that Israe will not be happy unless Iran is made into another failed state.
Israel has been at war with Iran. Killing Iranian scientists, and other acts. If one of their scientists is killed you can bet your bippy there would be rockets and nukes galore.
Israel is a criminal cult and ***deserves*** to be destroyed. That’s called justice. You seem to side with the criminal cult. Are you misguided, ignorant or is it that you too are a criminal-minded degenerate?
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Which country near Israel is a real threat to Israel? There isn’t. Even if there were, because Israel is the unofficial 52nd State of the U.S., we would come to its rescue.
Israel has been attacking Syria for years, and while claiming neutrality in the war, Israeli officials conceded they preferred ISIS to the Assad government.
wow attacking them and claiming neutrality at the same time.
and wasn’t uncle sam funding the ISIS against Assad and then when everybody figured that out, uncle sam pretended that the reason for staying in Syria was to fight the ISIS, all the while stealing Syria’s oil.
Several weeks ago I read, in antiwar, about accounts of tankers, hundreds of tankers, with Syrian oil, exiting the country. Imagine. The House on the Hill stealing another country’s oil, after pirating oil from another country. All the while, Israel bombs downtown Damascus.
ISIS is your friend as long as you give them weapons…! Cut that and/or betrayed them, they come to your country and cut the head of your citizens…!
Russia: I know you’re a bit tied up at this point, but DEFEND Syria, one of your staunchest allies
The only way to show relevance, and US fury over Russia. There is really no rational reason for carrying out such meaningless sttrike. Except to show that they can. Tneir powelessness is refllected in a string of events in the Gulf signifying a major diversification if regional alliances — commerccial and military. But it is never safe to have a crazy seeking attention in the neighborhood . There is no ISIS reallyvsince 2017, but the brand was kept on retainer by US and its Weternn counterparts. Just like Al-Qawda, brand name is useful, There are reserves kep in Al-Tanf base, andnearby Ruqban “refugee camp”. To be dispatched to spec ops — from Afghanistan to Yemen, anywhere else.
It is utterly absurd to expect people to believe in some mysterjous desert dwellers that are supplied with sll the necesities of life and military gear unbeknown to anyone. Once upon a time there war ISIS, a brain child of Western interests and a very willing Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayaf. The schema to creste an “Islamic” state, a Caliphate from the Sunni terrotories in Syria and Iraq apoealed to many, and even Biden at the time advocated a “partition” of Iraq into Sunni, Shia and Kurdish areas. Sunni areas of Iraq and Syria were hoped to be an ideal Saudi-influenced region, a barrier between Levant and Gulf.
The project flaundered as both Iraq and Syria utilized Russian military power and intelligence sharing and reduced ISIS to control of cities like Mosul, Sinjar and Kirkuk in Iraq, and Raqqa in Syria.
And Trump coming to power ended up ambivalence US played up to that point. Obama was following his pattern of “killing leaders”, piggybacking on his roaring success in killing Bin laden. It was stale, and it was obvious that we allowed ISIS to do business in oul with acceoss the border Kurds. Until Rusdia came and ended the traffic.
Trump did not want US to be involved in another nation building, and wanted to take away from Russia any hint of victory. He proclaimed war on ISIS. thus an end to Caliphate that Saudis invested so much into.
It was the end of trust in US, and the end of Mihammed bin Nayaf. In June of 2017, he was overthrown with the blesding of Saudi Allegiance Council. MBS came to power, and new Saudi policies and reforms. Wahhabis that were the conduit to ISIS lost the money for ISIS project. Many predicted then Wahabi revolt, but itvdid not come.
To say today that ISIS exists is the same as saying Al-Qaeda existed after it was wiped out in Afghanistan. And there wad not much to wipe out — few training camps, and Saudi supplied leader Bin Laden.
All other used of ISIS or Al-Qaeda were nothing more than special ops engineered projects, convenient scapegoats. Like HTS, former Nusra former Al-Qaeda in Idllib, 100% foreign special ops that still serve purpose. Like latest foray into Afrin in Syria, giving Kurds a boost, and reviving a smugglung lifine to Kurds in Turkey. Turkey did not see that comming.
Suprised me that they did not come up with an ISIS branch to blame for Nord Stream sabotage. But then, no deniability was needed.
In the future something will be invented to execute projects in Europe. Islamic thing has lost its value. The last thing they need is to rick the boat on immigration that is at present still bringing in thousands more Afghans into Germany.
Bianca’s analysis makes a lot of sense. The puppetmasters who pull the strings do not make sense
This is antisemtism at its worst -just describing what Israel does is anti- semtism.
That’s what Israle says .
This is meant to get Russias eye off the Ukrainian ball. Nothing more. Syrian government is held by a string and Russia knows that. Not to mention their Latakia base is also venerable.
Interesting comments from Israel, the seem to identify with ISIS… Strange bedfellows or kindred spirits?
So here is the real quote from an israeli official. Interesting how selective people are:
“In Syria, if the choice is between Iran and the Islamic State, I choose the Islamic State. They don’t have the capabilities that Iran has,”
Hi Odele:
Well, there is a certain amount of practicality in your statement…
The lesser of two evils
Lesser of evils. That’s weak tea if ever I heard any.
Sure, if he were a heartless bastard who didn’t care about the wellbeing of the average Syrian. So yeah.
As if that is any better. F*ck you Syrians, it’s all about Israel and you being a failed state is not only not a bad thing, but also the goal.
It’s front page news! The attacks on Syria are generating world disfavor! /s Nothing of the kind. There has not been front page news of us stealing Syrian oil.
“Israeli officials conceded they preferred ISIS to the Assad government.”
Well, hell, that’s no surprise. They’re practically joined at the hip when it comes to settling differences.
Funny how a group of people can claim to be so “antiwar” but go into a psychotic drooling rage at the mention of Israel, Jews…
The antiwar cred flies right out the window on this subject.
Oh, and Israel’s actions in Syria, and Yemen are criminal, evil, and they should definitely stop being America’s attack poodle.
