US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley announced Sunday that the US troops in Syria will not be leaving the country until all their military goals are accomplished. Those goals no longer seem to begin and end with ISIS.
Haley says the US military priority in Syria is to ensure Iran doesn’t “take over” the country, suggesting US troops would be a deterrent to that. There is little doubt Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, an Iranian ally, will survive this war. However, Haley ruled out any direct talks with Assad. She argued Assad isn’t “worthy” of talks.
That’s a problem if President Trump’s previous goal of leaving Syria is ever to be realized. The Administration are setting out a goal that would need to be negotiated and ruling out negotiation. The hope would be in a sudden shift toward diplomacy, as happened with North Korea.
The entire cabinet favored keeping US troops in Syria in an open-ended way, and France’s government echoes that sentiment. French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday even claimed credit for convincing Trump to keep troops in Syria.
British PM Theresa May has tried to spin the strikes in Syria as being about Russia. This shows that Syria’s attackers are not united on intents and goal.
Macron added that the US strikes would show Russia that the West isn’t “weak.”
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” – Sun Tzu
Brilliantly said, mate.
If it comes from Nikki you know it is coming from the highest power in America, AIPAC and the Likud.
Certainly didn’t take them long to school Trump on the withdrawal.
Question since Assad supported the insurgents in Iraq does anyone here thing that the rebels are “blow back” against Syria? I am sure at least some of the anti Assad forces were once supported by Assad against the US.
That’s an interesting question.
The first question I would offer in response is: Where do you get the claim that Assad supported insurgent forces in Iraq? The most I’ve ever heard claimed is that he ignored, or was lax in suppressing, Iraqi insurgent forces operating in the border area.
That’s not to say it’s impossible that Assad actively supported the insurgents in Iraq, just that I’ve never heard that claim. If it’s true, yes, some of the Syrian rebel activity could obviously be considered blowback, just like the US-supported anti-Soviet forces in Afghanistan eventually turned against the US.

OK, you have three sources, each of which has two kinds of claims:
1) Concrete, provable claims of Assad acting against the Iraqi insurgents.
2) “Sources say,” unprovable claims of Assad supporting the Iraqi insurgency.
The claims that would be most believable would be that Assad supported Shiite insurgents, given his base of support in Syria and his relationship with Iran.
The claims that would be less believable would be the claims that are made: That he would support the Sunni insurgents.
Saddams number 3 went to Syria think his name was Al Douri
“Saddam’s bombmaker” went to the US and appeared on Hannity all the time, until bombs weren’t found and he disappeared from Hannity’s show.
Saddams number 3
They found a lot of bombs in 1991
But in 2003 i wanted the US to invest in alternative energy. I thought it was a better way to fix the mid east.
If you were knowledgeable, you would know that Saddam’s bombmaker was purported to have personal knowledge of Saddam’s WMD “in the form of a mushroom cloud”, not conventional bombs.
I wasnt going to put anything past Saadam bu i wanted alternative energy then
And Sadam number 3 did go to Syria
Lots of people went to lots of places.
Idi Amin went to Saudi Arabia. Does that mean that Saudi Arabia was supporting pro-Amin insurgents in Uganda, or even that it had particularly supported his regime?
But, for the sake of argument, let’s assume that Assad was supporting the Iraqi insurgents. If I was him, I probably would have too. The US invaded his next door neighbor. It was in his interest for the US to get a bloody nose and realize that invading Middle Eastern countries is a very bad idea. Unfortunately, the lesson didn’t take, but can you really blame him for trying to teach it?
Of course I blame him. For several reasons. He deserves to have the Syrian rebels

Like your parents were in the Stern Gang and the Irgun, both terrorist organization and believe that Israelis are above all other humans.
Stormfront went bust.
As of 2010, there were a million Iraqi refugees in Syria escaping US occupation..if some of them went back and fought the US, Assad had nothing to do with it, tough enough just to deal with the refugees.

Assad at all times feared restive Sunnis funded in resistance to him by the Saudis. That was the root of the Hama debacle, and Assad did not take that lightly. That border with Iraq was already a region that resisted Assad, and he did not carelessly feed the resistance to himself. In fact he turned a blind eye to repeated raids into there by the US, when it hit his own Sunni enemies.
Perhaps he would have supported Shiite insurgents, but they were not along that border between Sunni territories of Syria and Iraq. They were further south. They drew on Iran not Syria, because it was there.
The Satan of the Bible has not up to now ever been idle and never ever will become idle.
The Satan of the Bible will not forever do its wickedness in Iraq, Libya, Ukraine, Syria.
Is she running the country? Maybe Donald’s hands are small, and his balls smaller.
That screeching banshee had better not run this country, Walt, she doesn’t have that authority. She’s not the POTUS; nor is she a high-ranking member of Congress. She’s nothing more than the leading US representative at the UN; and, even at that position, she’s embarrassing the US, the delegation under her, and herself.
Truth is, Nikki Haley isn’t even qualified for the post of US Ambassador to the UN. Her screeching, nonsensical rants prove it. She wasn’t even qualified to run South Carolina as Governor (she blew that one). She should’ve stayed at the local Waffle House waiting on customers .. That was her best job.
“She should’ve stayed at the local Waffle House waiting on customers .. That was her best job.”
If it ever was her job. The only person I’ve ever heard make that claim is you.
Macron has now backpedaled on those last claims, as did the Trump admin. Haley’s statement:
“Speaking on Fox News Sunday, Haley listed three aims for the United States: ensuring that chemical weapons are not used in any way that pose a risk to U.S. interests, that Islamic State is defeated and that there is a good vantage point to watch what Iran is doing. ”
That’s utterly open-ended, trying to prevent something we call bad from happening someday in the future. This totally flouts international law, and ever story about it should say so… no opinion involved.
If you are anti starting wars here’s an article to show you what we are up against.

It was never a civil war in Syria. It has always been a color revolution started by CIA, MI6, and Mossad using ISIS and the so called Syrian rebels, financed by the USA to take out Assad so the nation can be carved up and our puppet leaders put in charge, just like in the Ukraine. Americans have been lied to about Assad and Putin to demonize them so our leaders can justify taking over Syria.
Trump wants troops in Syria too – or he wouldn’t have appointed people who think that way
In a little more than a week we’ll be told that there are no more JFK files.
It is good that Haley has admitted the USA is a naked aggressor occupying parts of #Syria to attack #iran for the benefit of Israel. To think just a couple weeks trump was talking about pulling out. At the same time he was sending thousands of marines to Jordan for the attack on Iran which I believe will happen this summer. Haley does make a good straw crow of moral tears about how dare that you wiby winning against our employees aka rebels. We spent a lot of money recruiting all over the world people who we could pass off as syrians. Sadly i feel it is too late to avoid WWIII
