Adding to reports in recent days of growing Pentagon training operations in the US aimed at preparing for an attack on North Korea, House Armed Services Committee chairman Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX) has confirmed “very serious” training is indeed underway.
Rep. Thornberry says the administration is looking closely at what sort of preparedness they’ll need to engage in long-threatened “military options when it comes to North Korea.” This would be an attack, though recent reports have indicated the US believes they can get away with a limited attack that would lead to something short of full-scale nuclear war.
The US has been carrying out war games with South Korea for months, almost all of them themed around attacking North Korea. Such exercises are on hold until at least mid-March, but training continues in the US, and still seems primarily focused on such an attack.
With reports suggesting that a sneak attack on North Korea is also being contemplated in the next couple of months, the shift in training seems to be away from very high-profile exercises right on the border, toward less publicized exercises within the US focusing on specific preparedness for the attack.
What allot of nonsense. As if the USA would put boots on the ground in N Korea. Netanyahu will never allow it.

Of course it does , it lowers the US ability to do as he wants the US to do!
My thinking is that South Korea would not allow this. They would come off seriously the worse in any exchange of fire with NK, and they gain nothing from damage inflicted on NK. They play along with the US because they feel they need them to stand up to China, but when push comes to shove they will not allow a US President to start open warfare on their peninsula.

Sometimes politicians who get in the way of the US regime’s agenda have fatal accidents. Sometimes politicians who get in the way of the US regime’s agenda get overthrown.
Presumably that factor is also on the mind of Moon and other South Korean politicians when it comes to considering what they will or will not “allow.”
This is anti-war.com. When will I find an article which simply states that we have another fully pro-war government? Pro-war does not necessarily mean active war. It can also mean threats of war and much ratchet-up expenses for waging war. Well Justin, how about speaking the truth here?
Just as we read that the North and the South Korean teams are cooperating in the Olympics, we get the bland continuation of the aggressive USA officials “the US believes they can get away with a limited attack that would lead to something short of full-scale nuclear war.” as if that is all right.

America is just doing what any nation preparing to keep it’s citizens and allies does preparing for war is an option expert, sophisticated, militaries do, that way when they execute it will be successful and damage the enemy and let our adversaries know we’re capable.
“Preparing for war” is a secondary or tertiary purpose of US “defense” spending. Its primary purpose is to transfer money from your paycheck to the shareholders of Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, et al.
That’s why the US spends several times as much as the second biggest spender (China) on “defense,” yet can’t seem to win any of the wars it actually gets in. The purpose of those wars isn’t any military objective, it’s to use up weapons and supplies so that more can be bought and to have bases built and operated for which contracts can be awarded.

No. I clearly believe that Kim Jong Un says what he says as opposed to what other people claim he says. Whether or not he means it is a different question.
Oh, so the US “tried diplomacy” in order to get whatever it wanted. Whoop de doo. The question is not whether or not the US is being nice in how it goes about trying to run every other country on Earth. The question is whether the US has any business trying to run every country on Earth.
In 1950, the US intervened in another country’s civil war, killed millions over the course of the next three years, and while formally in ceasefire it has maintained a large troop presence and conducted menacing military exercises for the subsequent 65 years for the express purpose of threatening to re-start that war if it doesn’t get its way. In other words, it has acted EXACTLY like the North Korean regime, the only real difference is that the North Koreans, being Koreans, have a lot more legitimate interest in what goes on in Korea than the US does.
If the US doesn’t want to play stupid games and win stupid prizes on the Korean peninsula, it’s free to pack its trash and go home any time.
Since the goal of this war has nothing to do with NK nukes and everything to do with the six to ten trillion dollars in undeveloped mineral resources in NK, it’s clear that the US will start a war with NK, probably in the spring after the Winter Olympics.
The US warmongers couldn’t care less how many millions of civilians will die or how many SK military troops. The US won’t be sending many of its own troops there, since the US doesn’t have them to send – only one division and a couple light brigades are available.
The US knows NK missiles can’t deliver nuke warheads to US cities, so that hyped-up threat won’t actually occur.
Trump gets his “war President” poll bounce and everyone is happy.
Until China enters the war and now we really do face 200 nuclear weapons aimed at US cities.
