Some US senators are calling for direct strikes on Iran in response to the killing of three American troops in a drone attack in Jordan near the Syrian border.
President Biden blamed the attacks on “Iran-backed militants,” referring to Iraqi Shia militias. But the militias are known to act independently, and there’s no evidence Iran was involved. But Iran hawks in the Senate are jumping at the opportunity to start a war with Iran.
“The only answer to these attacks must be devastating military retaliation against Iran’s terrorist forces, both in Iran and across the Middle East. Anything less will confirm Joe Biden as a coward unworthy of being commander-in-chief,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said in a statement.
In a post on X, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called for the Biden administration to “strike targets of significance inside Iran.” He added: “Hit Iran now. Hit them hard.”
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) also took to X to call for war with Iran. “Target Tehran,” he wrote.
The New York Times reported last week that President Biden thought it was only a matter of time before an American soldier was killed in the region and that he might target Iran directly in response. Since mid-October, US forces have come under attack in Iraq and Syria over 150 times.
Not surprising, but at this point not the right thing to do. For those who think that Trump is the answer to all the Middle East problems, you should look at who these guy are supporting and they will be influencing.
This isn’t about Trump right now. He’s not President, Biden is and he needs to pull support from Israel ASAP. End the Genocide now.
But the future awaits and so does a major decision by Americans. And you and I both know that the US will not end its 75 years of support for Israel over this war. Biden could not just end that support by clicking his finger.
Too much money going to Israel coming back to the political supporters of Israel via AIPAC.
Another words, Israel is stealing US taxpayer money through the annual aid…!
Yes, Israel is pick- pocketing the USA. It’s been doing that since 1948.
On an unrelated note, I see that the funding for UNRWA is being cut off by multiple Western nations after it was shown that staff members of the UNRWA were involved in the Oct 7 attack. That is a loss of half billion dollars in aid to Gaza. However, I’m sure that Russia and China will step in a pick up the tab.
After Israel alleged that 12 staff members were involved in October 7 attack. https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/27/middleeast/unrwa-israel-hamas-october-7-allegations-intl/index.html
In the meantime it’s killed 150 of them in the Strip.
Israel proof is solid. Even the countries that have elected to keep supplying funds have said that they are doing so with reservation.
Israel’s proof was obtained through torture.
Israel lies about everything..no one can count on them except for other sociopathic liars being the UK, US, and its patsies. Where is Israel’s proof?
According to Israel. . .
Israel has one of the best Propaganda Outfits in the world. It always starts out with, “Never again”…..during their infliction on others what they suffered in Europe.
So, here you are, Tim, smirking in satisfaction over collective punishment, yet another war crime, this one committed directly by the US and its minions.
I’m sure everyone here is as shocked as I am to learn that you approve of this.
What war crime? The UN has plenty of countries that can pick up the tab like your buddies China and Russia. Not to mention the cash rich Arab oil nations.
I told you what war crime. If you cut of food, water, medicine, fuel, etc. to hundreds of thousands of trapped innocents, you don’t get off the hook by suggesting that someone else could pay for it.
Nope. There is no legal obligation by the USA or any other country to fund this agency. None. Zero.
All those countries who claimed that Israel is committing war crimes should pick up the tab. Put your money where you mouth is. South Africa should lead the fund raising drive.
BTW. How much money have you given to Gaza aid?
I donated a hundred bucks when I heard that the US is suspending funding. I’m retired and on a mostly fixed income, but I’ll keep making small contributions. I urge everyone to do the same.
https://donate.unrwa.org/-landing-page/en_EN
I’m with you!
Correct. Not choosing to help someone you have no legal obligation to help is not a crime.
It is, however, morally repugnant to say “because you whined about being genocided instead of just shutting up and taking it, we’re going to stop helping you.”
No legal obligation?
The UN Charter is for, the US, a ratified treaty.
“This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land . . .” ~Article VI
“All Members shall give the United Nations every assistance in any action it takes in accordance with the present Charter . . .” ~Article 2, Paragraph 5 of the UN Charter
Further, cutting aid to Gaza under currently-prevailing conditions clearly amounts to an act in furtherance of genocide (see Article II of the Convention) and enabling that by suspending funding is arguably an act of complicity in genocide.
Under “the present Charter,” UNRWA has a base budget (funded through the General Assembly), with most of its funding coming from voluntary additional contributions, above and beyond their “fair share,” from UN member states.
So the US is giving “every assistance” that’s required by the Charter. It’s just decided to stop doing more than it’s obligated to do.
Is it a dick move? Yes. Is it a crime or a breach of a treaty? No.

His “buddies Russia and China”? What the fuck is wrong with you?
Schadenfreude“ a German concept meaning “shameful joy,” or basically a sense of pleasure felt from the misfortune of others — is a little more obvious. For example, you see someone on social media getting called out for their mistakes and you pile on. Or maybe you feel glee that a rival sports team has been knocked out of a tournament.
According to psychologists at Emory University, schadenfreude can reveal something about people with dark personality traits. In a new article published in New Ideas in Psychology, the authors discuss how schadenfreude encompasses aggression, rivalry, and justice. But something more sinister connects the three.
“Dehumanization appears to be at the core of schadenfreude,” said Shensheng Wang, a PhD candidate in psychology at Emory and first author of the paper. “The scenarios that elicit schadenfreude, such as intergroup conflicts, tend to also promote dehumanization.”
Dehumanization means depriving a person or group of people of positive human qualities. Essentially, you perceive them as not really being human anymore, and not really feel any empathy for them at all.“

Which will add to the misery and death. More “collateral” damage?
Let’s see, we are getting reports that Gazans are starving and beginning to die of disease and famine while simultaneously hearing that the Israeli invasion is doing little or nothing to thwart the power and control of Hamas. We also get intelligence reports (that it seems like nobody is even refuting) saying that a key humanitarian group helping get aid to Gaza is infiltrated with Hamas operatives and the overwhelming majority of folks on this website are calling it a war crime to cut off relief to said “humanitarian” group
“We also get intelligence reports (that it seems like nobody is even refuting) saying that a key humanitarian group helping get aid to Gaza is infiltrated with Hamas operatives . . .”
We aren’t getting “intelligence reports” saying that. We’re getting reports saying that Israeli intelligence is claiming that 12 employees of UNRWA in Gaza participated in some undisclosed way in the October 7th attacks. No one can refute what hasn’t even been alleged.
In any case, UWRWA has 13,000 employees in Gaza alone, about 30,000 overall. That’s 0.04% — four one-hundredths of one percent.
To assert, under the currently-prevailing circumstances, that the alleged actions of a tiny fraction of one percent of employees justify cutting funding that two million desperate people depend on is indefensibly evil. If you support it, you also are evil.
Actually Sky News reviewed the Israeli manufactured “intelligence report” and found no compelling evidence to support the charge. They added that even if true there’s no link to UNRWA as an organization – the only entity that is distributing what little food and water the people of Gaza can get and at great personal risk to themselves. And that’s why the overwhelming majority of folks on this site support them.
Clear?
So you are beyond yourself with uncontainable pleasure and delight to the point of changing the subject at hand to interject your unhinged delights at the sufferings of the Palestinian people. This shows your total lack of decency .
Israel has been after the UNRWA for some time.

Lindsey will always be there to fight to the last drop of somebody else’s blood.
Iran backed militants…like “US backed” genocide?
Yup … given the way these senators and the MSM have reacted, they’d apparently be ok with Russia bombing our cities to ruin, right? Since Ukraine is nothing but a NATO-backed army and many Russians have been killed?
These jokers were calling for a war with Iran for the last couple of years, so no real surprise here
Past twenty years….
Past forty years….
Actually since the hostage crisis in 1979…! That makes it 45 years ago…!
As I have said for decades: There is good reason that “Blessed are the clueless” is not one of the Beatitudes. That said, calling light-stepper Graham and his confederates “clueless” is as close to Charity as I can venture.
Too early for hard core math this morning, but based on my initial calculations using all my fingers and toes: The US attacks Iran = ALL HELL breaks loose.
And something hits the fan as well!
US will lose a lot more if it attacks Iran…!
Agreed. I hope they don’t do it but Biden has made a mistake in every foreign policy decision he has made. Did I say “every?” Yes. Every.
US and its plans are failing in Ukraine. Admitting failure and defeat there cannot be allowed to “sully” US narrative. This slow realization of failure, in of itself will destroy Biden’s chances of election. Solution?
Start a fresh conflict with a new story, but an old villain.
Truly food for thought!
With one difference… They cannot stick it to Iran because they’re being outsmarted by them…!
The title for this movie will be, “The Three Stooges and World War Three”.
You read my mind…!
The usual warmongering suspects. If they had their way, the US would have bombed half the world by now. Oh, wait — it did.
Bomb IRAN? Are you guys bloody effing NUTS?! I do believe that this is actually in prophecy?!
Boy all of these brave sociopaths called politicians pretending to be brave or have any facts. Cornyn and Graham do not represent America or its interests. They are looking for weapons maker kickbacks…period
Ask them to send their sons and daughters to fight Iran…!
When we have uninvited military personnel in dangerous places, do they actually believe that no one can fight back?
It used to be like that… But not anymore… US hegemony is diminishing…!
Call all you want… Not gonna happen…!
Larry Johnson, ex-cia, has an excellent podcast on youtube; did not see it on his site, it is 20 minutes, essentially a review of the us bombing defenseless countries because that all the us knows how to do:
20 minutes is a tad but recommend say the last 5 minutes whereby he says if the crazies are successful in attacking Iran, they better be prepared for every us base within range of Iran’s huge missile arsenal to be attacked.
If an attack is planned, the us better close down all of those bases and get its troops home because they will be destroyed in the event of an attack.
He makes sense and I have been reading him for some time now.

Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, etc.?
Graham, Cornyn and Cotton are out of their cotton picking minds. All that cotton they picked clogged up their brains. So many SINators and Members of CONgress want war with Iran, the Arab World and basically the Developing World.
