IAEA Iran Report: Inspectors Find Some 83.7% Enriched Uranium Particles

Iran not stockpiling uranium over 60%

A new International Atomic Energy Agency report was leaked on Tuesday, stating that IAEA inspectors found uranium at 83.7% enrichment in Iran. An unspecified number of such particles were found. The report confirmed Iran is not stockpiling any uranium enriched to more than 60% purity.

That last part is important, as the weapons grade enrichment level is 90%, meaning there is still no weapons threat.

Efforts are being made to explain the new particles. Iran has suggested they accidentally formed during cascade configuration. The IAEA appears to accept that explanation, so hopefully this will turn out to be a non-issue.
