Israel Kills Five Syrian Soldiers in Attack on Damascus Airport

Damage reported, air defenses intercept missiles

Fresh off reports of Israeli attacks cutting off humanitarian aid in Damascus, Israel attacked the airport once again. There is no word if the airport is operational.

Damage was reported and state media said many rockets were intercepted. Five soldiers were reported killed in the incident. Israel refused comment.

It’s not clear what was targeted, beyond the soldiers. Nearby military posts also came under fire. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported two members of Iranian-backed groups were also killed.

Attacks against Iranian targets are not unusual, though harmless Iranians being in Damascus isn’t so rare either. Either way, Israel is not going on the record.
