Pompeo: Tide Is Turning Against China

Says more nations endorse US actions against China

In comments before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared the “tide is turning” in favor of the US and against China, saying he sees more international support for US policies on China in recent days.

Pompeo has been making near daily diatribes against China worldwide, calling on a global alliance against Chinese “tyranny.” Today’s comments suggest he is getting at least some interest in this idea, and his new Cold War.

At the same time, Pompeo said he was dismayed that more nations aren’t taking a hard line on China on the Hong Kong security law, declaring China the “central threat of our times.”

Most nations don’t seem to stand to gain much from choosing sides in the US-China hostility, which is likely to just keep sparking trade wars and mutual condemnations, and stands to impact a lot of nations’ investment in 5g technology, as Pompeo orders them not to buy Chinese.
