Western officials repeatedly condemned the ousted Yanukovych government for snipers who fired on protesters in Kiev, but it turns out those snipers were actually hired by the protest leaders themselves and told to kill people on both sides to drum up more unrest.
That was revealed by Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet in a leaked conversation with European Union foreign policy head Catherine Ashton. Estonia confirmed the authenticity of the leaked conversation.
Paet was recently in Kiev, and was shown strong evidence to that effect by the main doctor at the protesters’ mobile camp. Dr. Olga Bogomolets reportedly turned down an offer to be Vice Premier of the new regime.
Ashton expressed considerable surprise at the revelation, saying that she hadn’t heard that before. It is unclear from Paet’s investigation who among the protest leaders may have hired the snipers, but the safe bet is probably the neo-Nazi-styled Right Sector, which has since been courting terrorist leaders for attacks on Russia.
This is the Neocon/War Party "soft power" protocol: bankroll, organize, and train the "opposition"; promise them a privileged position in the new government — guns, badges, and a nice, steady paycheck; maneuver behind the scenes to ripen the moment, then call out the "paycheck opposition" for sizable, newsworthy protests — remember the anti-Morsi protests? — and have specially selected provocateurs shoot a few cops — and "protesters" as well — to ramp up the violence. At which point either the brownshirts take over, or the Neocons declare the government a dictatorship headed by corrupt and brutal abusers of their own people, a government which must be overthrown.
We've seen this protocol succeed in and destroy Libya, destroy Syria, be applied unsuccessfully in Iran, and be a work-in-progress in every other country where the leadership resists offering up their people and resources as tribute to the world's neo-liberal oligarchy.

Actually, no, the leaked phone call does not offer any proof, the snipers were hired by the opposition. The parties discuss the possibility — and how bad it would be, if the rumors to the effect begin circulating — but neither side confirms, the rumors to be true. Quite the contrary…
No not quite, the Estonian Foreign Minster said there were rumors but also he discussed with the chief medical examiner for the protesters (who had declined a post in the new government) about the same bullets being used to kill protesters and the police. Take that for what you will but coupled with the fact that there was no investigation into the shooting and with how quickly the new Ukrainian Parliament voted to indict Yanukovych in the ICC makes it very suspicious.
There was no logical reason for Yanukovych to order the shooting of protesters after three months and after he had accepted a deal to keep himself in power. To what end would it have served? On the other hand some in the protest movement had great incentive (cabinet posts) to spark a riot to force Yanukovych from power.

I have no idea where you get your information from. But in the phone conversation it was stated by Estonian FM that the coalition did it, not Yanukovic. The phone conversations generally do not have, for our convenience, all the details. I am sure, based on what he said — he was VERY sure. Now, there are several photos by various media taking pictures of snipers with rifles. They were in the positions on barricade occupied by Right Sector or Trident. They are clearly visible, and given the location these people with rifles were, no police in or out of uniform was present. Who knows, there may be a witness too, somebody is talking. Such clarity would not be possible without proof. The language he used does not leave anything for spinning.

I have been reading some interesting observations about his role and that of the State Department as operating independently of Obama, who apparently is trying to keep channels open with Putin. There's an online Russian language YouTube video which shows the shooting of unarmed demonstrators in Maidan Square. They are blindsided while moving with shields covering them from potential fire from government buildings and the argument of the text on it is that the same videographer direction is that of the sniper fire. In other words, the videographer seems to be spotting what the sniper is spotting as well, as though they are working in tandem, from a hotel which the protesters occupied. That is the argument.
