A new video has emerged today showing four uniformed US Marines, reportedly from the scout sniper team with the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, laughing and urinating on the corpse of slain Afghans, referred to in the video as “dead Talibans.”
This is, of course, not the first time that the US military has been involved in a corpse desecration scandal in Afghanistan, with the military publicly apologizing last year for images of US Army soldiers taken with slain soldiers, a scandal that eventually ballooned into the “kill team” fiasco, which included looting body parts off the slain.
Both the Pentagon and the US Marine Corps have confirmed that they are aware of the existence of the video, and have promised an investigation into the matter.
US Marine Corps spokesman Capt. Kendra N. Hardesty added that having Marines urinating on the corpses of slain Afghans is “not consistent with our core values.” She added that so far the Marine Corps has not confirmed that the troops were actually from the unit the video alleges.

I think they are ashamed about how puny their burritos are, so to keep the morale high, the Pentagon preferred not to show their insignificance. In fact, the first photos were uncensored and the whole world could see the size of the Marines' pricks. This was a concern that reached the highest levels, so even Panetta felt necessary to say, "We apologize for the paltriness of our gallant men's yingyangs, but this is not the real size. I want to tell the US armed forces to rest assured that our wiener schnitzels have nothing to envy those of the Chinese or the Russian or even the Muslims.

Clearly the Afghans shown here were using their wheel barrel to terrorize the Brave young men and women of the United States who put their lives on the line every day to protect Americans at home from their freedom.
Their intention was to preserve the bodies of these Afghan terrorists with urine so that their loved ones

As one who saw atrocities in Viet Nam and the lack of an organizational backbone to excise these cancers from the corp, it does not surprise me to see events even more degraded than what I saw previously. Perhaps there's a culture being fostered revolving around our "exceptionalism" where morale strictures of how to act as a functioning part of humanity are deemed below our esteemed highness.
How far the United States of America has fallen. This is not the same country I grew up in and I am ashamed of where we've gone. Times like these merely expose the underlying corruption which has been festering for a long time. I know it's hard to see, but this is still the country you grew up in (and so did I). But because the worst that we are stands so exposed (as in these pictures), I find myself forced to look at the precedents for it. Let's start with things like white supremacy and American exceptionalism and being the "Elect of God" and stuff like that. Let's quote the general who said "There is no good Indian but a dead Indian." The country to which we were heirs has a long bloody history, and this is simply the latest chapter, not an aberration. I am sorry to break this news to you, because you seem an optimistic person. So was I. But now I am just a cynic. I really don't thing anyone did me a big favor by killing their way to the point where I can visit Walmarts in any city in the nation and live a plastic shrink-wrapped life. Two illegal wars (war crimes), hundreds of thousands murdered, millions seriously injured (Is there any injury that isn't "serious"), tens of millions terrorized, national infrastructure (water, power, sewage treatment) turned to rubble, trillions — with a "T" "R") stolen from the future of US children and given to the Murdering Industrial Criminals (…and you thought it just "disappeared"?), and the guy hired to end it and implement accountability, says, "Look forward not back", and then proceeds to "out murder" his criminal predecessor.

Seeing this act by our 'warriors', in a war we won't end, cannot be a condemnation of our troops, but is of We, the people's lack of honesty of what we wrought upon our souls.
What's so repugnant here? That those who didn't die and lived through an engagement pissed on the vanquished corpses, good for us. They are not beheading, or mutilating anything are they?
Don't pretend that those same 'militants' would not have mutilated the marines’ corpses had the fight gone the other way. Forget about justifying this as an aberration, it is the most human of actions.
I was/am a Viet Nam Vet, stationed with a Combat Engr. unit, south of Saigon, ‘68-‘69. After one night battle, the ones who didn't die had to clear the bodies out in the morning to finish an airstrip for a planned major operation. One of my fellow soldiers, the son of a minister back in the mid-west, took Polaroid pictures holding up body parts of the dead VC, arms & legs, bodies like trophy fishing photos with shit eaten grins, to send home to his family. No guilt, remorse, nor cruelty, just a misdirected ecstatic declaration of having survived to the light of day. A 'But for the grace of God thing'.
Yeah, I was taken, shaken by our collective numbness to the wrongness of it but I understood the why, and saddened. We each cross or not, certain fictitious lines that our leaders who never have and don't place their lives in harm’s way or are so afraid by the actual horror of war can pontificate about, and wear the righteousness of the hypocrisy of our national decisions to support our troops by squandering their humanity.
We train, order and expect them to kill, maimed, and destroy without a conscience. A conscience that to survive they can not afford to have or is officially allowed. How dare our Government officials, media, We, the people comment from on high on what was recorded. We all wrote this script. Remember, we invaded Afghanistan because the Taliban wouldn’t hand over Bin Laden on demand, for no other reason. Iraq was another story, and even that was a crock.
As for upsetting the Afghan people, etc, so what? Killing their people indiscriminately, destroying & controlling their government, supporting the War lords’ heroin empire for ten years isn’t enough? If I recall, we conquered them real fast. It’s the staying that rotted out any positive possibilities, or was it for oil pipelines? These people have been at war of one fashion or another for thousands of years, so leaving now won’t really change their historical reality by much anyway. Just another defeated empire racked up.
The best any soldier can ever say about being in a war is “I didn’t die!” Reasons don’t matter because if they did we’d all commit suicide for the sins we committed and the ones we didn’t. There is never a cure or forgiveness for any of it, just distance in time from what we did.
These particular four marines should be awarded metals for the things medals are given for, that they earned. What’s a matter are you who never walked into the fire, known the fear so in need of a story that this video is you’re feeble effort to justify, allowing through action & inaction, to deny the reality of this continued waste of blood, treasure & humanity?
Back in 1968, while in Basic Training at Ft. Ord, in the rain the Drill Instructor yelled out, “What is the purpose of the bayonet?” 600 trainees, each right arm aloft firmly holding a bayonet, in one loud voice roared, “To KILL! To KILL! To KILL!” Times don’t change, neither do human beings.
Please don’t make these men out as evil depraved villains, they are us. Me & you & they did what we do. And they do it well, they are America. Be proud they didn’t butcher the bodies. Report the truth, report what war is, not echo Bush’s out of sight out of mind spin.
As for that Marine General who has the balls to say,”…it turns them into animals…” Isn’t that his job to make it so? He did it well, I’m not being facetious, they live, and they didn’t die. They’re good soldiers, they’re our warriors.

Folks, what are you all lamenting? The piece missing is 'OUR' actions & inactions that placed them in the situation. They are nothing more than anonymous dominoes in a pattern We, the people allowed to be set in motion and which is still in motion.

I don't know about you, but I remember a time when our army didn't act that way. Didn't pose naked men together in a pyramid and pose in front of them with a smile, and then be stupid enough to have their picture taken doing it, didn't piss on dead people or take body parts off of them. And I'm not saying people don't do shitty things in war, but were those situations war-time situations, especially the staged kills? But more than that, where was the command? Not consistent with Marine core values? Spoken like a true career officer.
