Israeli Airstrikes Reported Near Damascus

Israeli warplanes have once again attacked the area near the Syrian capital of Damascus on Wednesday morning, with Syrian state media reporting that air defenses were activating and foiling much of the attack.

Details on damage are not clear at this point, which is usually how early reports go, though reports are the attacks targeted an ammunition depot in Zabadani, and that there were “major blasts.” Some media reports said one person was killed, but that’s yet to be confirmed.

In keeping with Israel’s narrative, the depot was presented as having something to do with Hezbollah.

Though Israel attacks Syria almost every single week these days, the attacks nominally target other Shi’ite groups that have some interest in Syria.

As usual, Israel has refused to comment on the reported attack, saying that they don’t comment on reported operations that emerged in foreign press. Israel largely doesn’t deny these exercises, but only occasionally confirm them.
