Syrian state media reported an Israeli attack against the northern area around al-Masyaf, with missiles hitting a weapons factory. The attack was said to have caused massive damage, and killed at least nine people.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed this was roughly the case, saying four killed were Syrian and the others are of unknown nationalities. They expected the death toll would rise because of the extent of the damage.
As usual, Israel refused to talk, but they did chime in on a 2019 attack on Syria, denying media reports that Israeli ground troops had entered Syria without permission. The incident killed one Syrian civilian.
Israel constantly attacks targets in Syria, and generally does try to kill foreigners, labeling them Iranian in most Israeli media outlets. The slain are generally Shi’ites from other countries, but very rarely are they actually from Iran.
Good thing Israelism is all about doing God’s will…
Actually “its doing Satan’s will”.
I think some people missed your sarcasm.
…. I’ll definitely have to flag sarcasm as sarcasm from now on…
Syria, as usual, cowering before Israel. No honor, no dignity, no fight–just cowardice.
And what do you think would happen if they retaliated? Discretion is the better part of valor when the world’s superpower is at their demand. Unlike Syria’s “ally” Russia, the US would come to Israel’s aid in a heartbeat.
It would be nice to see some backbone from Arabs. Note that the illegitimate Zionist entity does not attack Iran on Iranian soil because they know Iran will strike back. Syria has had decades to strengthen itself military, but it could not even put down a rebellion without Iranian, Russian, Hizbullah help
And that rebellion was backed by the superpower with the entire country being saturated with weapons, hardly your normal rebellion. Iran is in a much better position to defend themselves for the obvious reason that Syria is a war torn disaster. Plus geography makes Iran a much more difficult place to attack with impunity. And Israel, like the US, only picks fights with someone they have obvious military superiority over. I’m not really arguing whether the Arabs have backbone, or not, but in Syria’s case I believe retaliation would be suicidal.
Israel doesn’t pick fights.
Israel had a good relationship with Iran before the Revolution. Israel bought Iranian oil & Iran bought Israeli goods. Israel would like to have a good relationship again.
“Israel doesn’t fight”
FTFY. They goad their superpower patsy to do it for them. Bibi has been pushing the US to fight Iran since 1992 if not sooner. Maybe Iran can get their patsy to install another yes man so Israel can have good relations again.
Do you mean back when Iran was run by the Americans?
No country’s birth certificate is more legitimate than that of Israel. One reason is that many of the men who founded the country—Theodore Herzl, Ze’ev Jabotinosky, David Ben Gurion, Menecham Begin, and Yitchak Shamir—were either lawyers or had legal training. They were obsessed with “making it legal.”
Step by legal step Israel moved legally toward nationhood—from the Balfour Declaration in 1917, to the San Remo Agreement in 1920, the League of Nations Resolution in 1922, to the Anglo-American Convention on Palestine in 1924, to the partition of land ordained by the United Nations in 1947, into a nation state for the Jewish people and an Arab state.
Israel has never been legit; even during their golden age, the Hebrews were hostile invaders to Canaan.
Patience is a virtue. Especially when you have higher priorities that can and should be accomplished before you give excuse to a super power that could not wait for an excuse to re-engage.
Much has been accomplished. Over 500 different groups that were funded by foreign sponsors either have accepted reconciliation and returned under civilian control, or have left their areas to resettle in Idlib. With Turkey, YPG in Afrin has been removed from power, ISIS eliminated from border region and Kurds under SDF banner removed from power after US withdrawal. There are pockets in Deir Azzor where US claims oil well, and Al-Tanf base on Jordanian border.
But the key is now Idlib. Russian-Turkish patrols through Idlib along M4 highway, and gradual squeezing of HTS/White Helmets from the region. Most former militants are already under Turkish control.
Next will be Constitutional Assembly already agreed upon.
Israel can and must wait. A new constitution, elections and government must come first before tackling international issue of that magnitude.
Thus patience. The whole region is in realignment. It is subtle and non-jarring. But it is real. Out of this realignment, Israel will come out weaker in the region. If US does nothing with Iran, it is a foregone conclusion. And doing something is risky for US.
…. The right to respond to an act of war is not in and of itself a guarantor of victory.
Russia is Syria’s backer and guarantor; if Russia doesn’t want an expanded fight with Israel, then such a fight is not going to happen.
Israel’s called Russia’s bluff some time ago.. Russia beefed up Syrian defenses after Israel’s F-16 spoofed Syrian air defenses into shooting down that Russian IL-20 surveillance plane.
However, those defenses have hardly been used except against what appear to be Israeli F-16 drones and incoming missiles.
Otherwise, in February, 2018, Syria did shoot down an Israeli F-16.

In retrospect, the Israeli response, was to ‘arrange’ taking down the aforementioned IL-20. Russia backed down publicly at the time, and that has stuck.

best time to bomb assad’s presidential palace will be when they all are sitting down to sunday dinner.
Well, the Syrian S-300s and Russian S-400 were turn off by Russia as usual when Israel attacks Syria….! That is because Israel informs Russia before any attack…! If and When Syria gets to control their S-300 themselves they can shoot down the Israeli war planes even over the Lebanese airspace….!
not a syrian alive with the ability to use that S-300 would be the problem.
Syria should sign a peace treaty with Israel.
