Ukraine announced the beginning of the Clear Sky 2018 operation in the west of Ukraine. The operation centers on warplanes focusing on coordinated air defense, with Ukraine presenting it as preparation to “protect the airspace” from Russia.
The US and several other NATO nations are participating in this operation, which is to last until October 19. Ukraine emphasized the idea of coordination with Poland and Romania, two nations that they border.
Ukraine has been keen to push the idea that Russia is an imminent military threat to them, to the point where for the past several years, top Ukrainian officials have suggested World War 3 will start over Ukrainian territory.
US planes involved in the operation include the F-15C Eagle and the C-130J military transport, along with unspecified combat drones, which are being sent to train. 700 NATO troops are to participate as well.
Kind of a strange way to improve relations with Russia.
Of course, Ukraine the leading light of democracy needs NATO help against the big bad neighbour, Russia. The USA always knows who needs help in making more conflict.
My comments criticizing Disqus monitoring my comments are in no way a reflection of what I feel about Antiwar. I just want to know is everyone else having to prove they’re not a robot when they comment or is it just me?
Offhand guess: It’s anyone who chooses to comment as a “guest” instead of logging into an account.
There are in fact bots that create Disqus accounts and use those accounts to spam for as long as they can. But presumably it’s simpler to set up a bot that doesn’t have to create/log in to accounts. Disqus is apparently doing something to close off that route.
I’ve considered turning off the ability to comment as a “guest,” since that option seems to usually get used for spamming, trolling, or guidelines-violating posts. The reason I haven’t done so is that there might also be people who have something worthwhile to say but who want to leave as little identifying information as possible lying around. Commenting as a “guest” doesn’t hide your IP from Disqus, but at least it doesn’t also require disclosure of email addresses and other information which someone with a warrant, National Security letter, or whatever could use to identify you.
Mr.Knapp did you add a re-captcha security feature in the commenting system?
No.
Awesome, a massive military presence on Russia’s doorsteps. I’m so proud!
FUCK Disqus monitoring my comments. Why am I being asked if I’m a robot by these silly fucks? The only robot around here is the one Disqus systems monitorer wife uses because, he’s working with a limp noodle. Mad because I called y’all out for spying on us and handing our private information to the FEDS, fuck y’all.
