Earlier this week, the US announced a new round of sanctions against Russia. Officially, these sanctions are meant to punish Russia for the Salisbury nerve agent attacks in March, though Russia has denied involvement in that.
With more Congressional pushes for yet more sanctions, Russia issued a warning Friday that further sanctions amount to a “declaration of economic war” against Russia. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in particular warned against banking and currency restrictions.
In the case of such sanctions, Medvedev warned, “it will warrant a response with economic means, political means, and if necessary, other means. Our American friends should understand that.” President Putin also warned the sanctions are viewed as “unfriendly steps” by the US.
The US has been imposing ever-increasing sanctions against Russia in recent years, with the Trump Administration passing new ones every few weeks. Russia doesn’t retaliate nearly so frequently, but has tended to respond to the biggest sanctions with comparable measures of their own.
Russia must do everything in its power to sway the EU out of the US sphere, and also eventually destroy NATO.
But what do you do with fools in Congress whose bosses sre trying to stir up
war, any war — to get white patriotism inflamed and flag waving middle America firmly behind the war machine again?
Vote ’em out of office whether they be Republicans or Democrats.
Exactly! It should make it simple! Pick the bew ones from telephone directory, no money wasted on elections and no sugar daddies needed to finance them.
I just googled ‘how many countries are sanctioned by the US’. The top answer was 6, and Russia wasn’t mentioned. Decades ago I saw a clip on TV of a pundit or official commenting that “nearly every nation in the world is now somehow under economic sanctions by the United States. I think we’ve kind of overdone it.” So this US fetish with indiscriminate economic sanctions even while singing the praises of Free Trade as the fix for everything is long-standing. They are either immune to irony or can’t hear themselves speak.
Or they are just plain so arrogant that they do not even comprehend or take into account their own stupidity. The bottombline is, those behind the scene that are running the country are running out of ideas — but are defermined to push forward without altering the course. They are stil pushing for borderless world in which the “democracy” of elected fools would do their bidfding, and population left without any institution accountable for the deterioration of their living standards and enslavement by corporate bureaucracy. And to push it along, they are employing any and all transnational tools, financial, banking, corporate, tides of migrants, armed movements under whatever banners and ideologies. Be that arming separatists to undermine sovereign states, such sucesses being Kosovo or Turkish, Iraqi and Syrian Kurds, or religious luminaries like Dalai Lama, religion as a tool, such as Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, ISIS, Latin American drug gangs, or assorted death squads cum demicracy protesters, including proud Nazis of Ukraine that have been awarded with running the helpless country. And at home and abroad, budding Antifa already causing trouble in the name of international criminal enterprises called globalists.
Their pawns in Congress are just jumping to action every time their angry bosses yell at them. And action means sanctions even if it means in the name of debunked “poisoning” case in which nobody died, and the story spun will not convince a ten year old? They are hoping for some opportunity to start armed conflict, some chance for stirring up white patriotic juices, flag waving and demands for military action. Judging by Trump administration reaction — he will not stand in their way. He is right not to make himself the issue — let Congress and their faithfull flunkies in US bureaucracy plow on, standing in the way of both arms control and free trade. Russia just got new customer for their wheat — Saudi Arabia, after Canada’s uber liberals misjudged their clout in propping up now jailed human rights activists. We in USA would be immensely better off if people with a background of lobbying for any foreign country, or being beneficiaries of any foreign country’s munificence — are barred from politics and any job in civil service no matter how small. In US, people with such pedigree are actually preffered for our taxpayers’ funded jobs.
Historically, bad things happen after the Russians become Officially Tired Of Your Shit®.
The USA will be in a mess if Turkey joins Syria, Iraq and Iran in a new Mid-East Pact. Ruining Turkey’s economy over this spy that was captured is dumb.

The latest “sanctions” defy belief. UK PM TerrorismMay(sic) started the lies in March about Russia, with absolutely no evidence/reason/motive for such a stupid act as “novichok” attack on ex-spy, already useless, sending diplomats scurrying away and giving no chance to Russia to refute the claims. Her claims were accepted by all and sundry as if they had any validity, and now the new sanctions target Russia, whose Chemical Weapons were destroyed and certified as such by the OPCW, while the USA and the UK still have them (including those at Porton Down, 8miles from Salisbury, UK). NATO’s
F/UK/US attacked Syria, are supporting the violence in Yemen with the Saudis, yet pretend that Russia is the bad guy!!!
Trump is losing control of power in Washington.
Sanctions and tariffs are tools that need to be used deliberately and it seems that too many people have the ability to impose them.
It is easier to keep friends than to make new friends, the USA is buying friends these days which is not a strong relationship foundation.
