North Korea’s Kim Jong-un and South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in have arrived in the truce village in the demilitarized zone Friday morning, shaking hands and signaling the start of a high-profile summit that has been Moon’s goal since his election last year.
A live stream of the summit is available on USA Today (15 second ad may be required). There is a carefully negotiated schedule for events expected to be carried out throughout the day.
Having been stationed in South Korea back in the late 90s as an infantryman, I can’t help but look upon this with a certain amount of skepticism. Sure, I’d love to see the two Korea’s work out their differences and give the US military an exit strategy, but with all the nonsense that N. Korea has been known for over the last 65+ years I can’t help but feel like there is a nasty surprise waiting for an unsuspecting south Korea.
