A written statement to the Senate Intelligence Committee from Google, Twitter, and Facebook revealed that they have found absolutely no evidence of any attempt by Russia to influence any US votes within the past year (2017) and were unaware of any state-sponsored attempts to interfere at all.
With Congress increasingly desperate to turn up something that they can pin on Russia interference-wise, there is growing pressure on major technology companies to dig through their logs and try to find something conceivably Russia-related.
Facebook has appeared to be the most eager to come up with something, having claimed that 129 “events” were created by people they suspect of being in league with the Russians, though later conceding that they had no information if any of those events ever actually took place.
Facebook did, however, claim an “insignificant” overlap between the putative Russian and the Trump campaign. That’s somewhat surprising, as oftentimes attempts to label someone a secret Russian hinge heavily on them being perceived as pro-Trump in such after the fact investigations.
This article is pretty misleading, the specific source you have mentioned said no infiltration on “2017 election”. It doesn’t say anything during 2016 election cycle, which tech firm have confirmed millions of dollars were spent in attempting to further divide public opinion.
Really? This article does start pretty clear ” US votes within the past year (2017)“. It is even repeated: last year and 2017, in case you missed it. If it would be about 2016, it would be front page news in all newspapers, of course.
In these somewhat-united states of America, any lack of unity is either treason initiated by a foreign aggressor if you disagree with them, or an extraordinary act of citizenship and patriotism if you agree – given the atmosphere of intolerance festering in the land of the free. The differences between Americans are only getting bigger, making it harder to see how we are all in this together. That’s a far more serious problem than any foreign interference which may or may not have occurred at some point.
In the written statement from Google, et al, were they saying that there was no evidence in the last year, or that nothing was found during the searches of last year? With the corporate lawyers running this country, it is necessary to clearly understand the nature of the lies.
There were no “millions of dollars”. At most a couple hundred thousand and most of those ads ran AFTER the 2016 election. And we’ve no evidence whatsoever that ANY of those ads were either pro-Trump or anti-Clinton.
Not to mention that the Internet Research Center crowd were arrested by the Russians as CIA SPIES.

If Russia Today is Moscow’s propaganda arm, it’s not very good at its job

Bottom line: There was no Russia influence operations – and it’s stupid to imagine that any such could possibly influence the election in the first place – something Russia would know from the get-go.
I am SO surprised that I have not read or seen any of this evidence on the MSM!!!!
Not only was this not headlines in the MSM, but the whole thing dropped off the radar when it became clear the Israel was pouring millions into US elections, not Russia.
I find it too hard to keep track of all the claims and to what extent they have been debunked. It’s very easy to have a mismatch or to interpret a debunking as too general (there are so many claims they’re impossible to debunk so there is always some bulk left)In this case the debunking is about state elections in 2017. I must have missed the original claims on those! The Trump election was 2016. and the claims about 129 events are about 2016. Which could be interesting but I’m not sure yet..
Isn’t that special. They were but now they aren’t.
