Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has ordered a total freeze of official communications with the Trump Administration following the US State Department ordering the closure of the PLO office in Washington DC.
The State Department had refused to renew the permit for the office because the Palestinians had joined the International Criminal Court in September. The US opposes the move because of fears that it would expose Israelis, a non-member, to war crimes prosecutions for crimes committed on Palestinian soil.
The US Congress had forbade the Palestinians joining the court system, though clearly the Palestinians didn’t consider that to be a decision US officials could make. The State Department has also dismissed the idea that communications could be closed by the Palestinians.
State Department spokeswoman Heather Neuart insisted that “in our view, communications are not frozen,” and that the US will continue to talk with the Palestinians. That the Palestinians aren’t going to be talking back, however, seems to be wholly irrelevant to the US estimation of how communications are going.
We live in the world of idiots
Say it aloud.
the US further isolates itself
With Kushner and Friedman controlling the White-House on Palestinian issues this was a forgone conclusion months ago.
It is time for the Palestinians to hunker down and get tough, something they are very good at.
Next step is for Saudi Royalty to use Israel to threaten Iran and trade the occupied territories for the favor.
I wonder how people in the Mid_East will see this alliance and how many new settlements Israel can build during the turmoil.
It’s time for the Palestinians to decide to sign a peace treaty.
And it’s time for the Zionist enterprise to lift the siege of Gaza, to end the theft of Palestinian land and water resources on the West Bank, to stop sending squatters to occupied east Jerusalem and to terminate the treatment of al-Qaeda and ISIL terrorists on the Golan Heights.
Palestinians should push for a one state solution, that’ll show them. Trying to get a two state with the US and Israel is nigh impossible. One pushes the peace process as though they are doing something the other builds settlements to scuttle it, they should know by now Israel is after the land and has long as they play along they will take it bit by bit, because their status as an occupied people is detrimental to their legal rights (because of military rule), it’s the same ‘ol same ‘ol colonization playbook. Everyone knows the influence in Washington heavily leans towards the Israeli side, I think most Americans only wish they had the such influence over their own government, so it’s about time they stop pretending as the subject matter is become to tedious and mundane.
Israel has offered to end the occupation, but the Palestinians have turned down every Israeli peace proposal.
“Everything we have we took from you. We propose to buy peace by giving a fraction of it back.”
That’s how the Palestinian Arabs see it.
Furthermore, when it comes to the “two state solution,” the Israelis are all for it, as long as there’s no second state.
Settlements are not an obstacle to peace.
Arrogance ans ignorance at play here. The BIG MASTER TALKING
Palestinians having nothing to say to the White House… but will the White House ever notice that something changed? One-way communication without any listening has been the status quo for a long time.
The U.S. government is composed of a bunch of spoiled babies. How DARE the Palestinians join the International Criminal Court when we told them not to? WAAAAAAH!
