Saudi Arabia’s naval blockade of Yemen, in place since the 2015 invasion, has often nominally allowed humanitarian shipments. In the past month, however, the blockade has tightened dramatically, and even vital medications and food are virtually impossible to import.
So while the Yemenis have been kept in a state just short of mass starvation, catastrophic death tolls have been held off, at least until now. Now, doctors in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa say that a lot of key medicines are just plain gone.
One doctor was very frank about the likelihood that he “could end up losing all of my cancer patients,” since cancer medications have run out. Even people who just have entirely treatable conditions like diabetes are likely to die within the next week, since insulin is no longer available.
The consensus is that many hundreds of Yemenis will be dead within the next week simply from a lack of access to medication. There’s no sign that the Saudis have any intention to do anything about this.
And it’s the tip of the iceberg. Aid groups are warning that Yemen is down to about six weeks of food aid left, and the long-threatened famine may be about to arrive. They caution that as many as seven million are at risk of starvation without more food aid after that six weeks of food is exhausted.
The US Congress are cowards for not addressing the US’s participation in this war crime.
They are not just cowards — they are participants in the genocide. It is starting to look like MbS is turning on the screws, looking at US and saying — just let me know when! This was from day one OUR war, our objective. Now, Saudis are keeping the helpless “president” Hadi in Saudi Arabia, not allowed to leave, are we still insisting that he is the president of the whole Yemen, and should be forcibly put back into power? Now that Saudi Arabia is holding Hariri, and royals of Saudi Arabia, Kuweit and UAE are asking their citizens to leave Lebanon — that country now for the first time in a long time has a chance to appoint a Sunni Prime Minister not appointed by the West. But then, West had Christians support Sunni puppet. After what has happened to Christians in Syria — the support is behind Shia and their Hezbillah party and paramilitary. Now, US will be forced to choose sides, and will not be pretty. Neocons have met their match.
Plain put, where are now the squawking human rights “civil sector”, where are international organizations, US humanitarians? Our Congress that is all over the globe spreading democracy and human rights? Why, Saudi ruler is not a bucher of Araba?
For as long as neocons rule — and today they rule — they will keep on pushing their agenda — Shia genocide at all costs. David Goldman, pen name Spengler once famously wrote that all Shia populationn in Lebanon should be killed — and Iran nuked, and their water to be poisoned to boot. You would think there would be consequences to such naked advocacy of genocide. All that happened is that the ownership change in Asia Times got Goldman on the Board. And German Spiegel magazine published a rather cheerfful account of all the measures taken in the White House to prevent access to Trump by anyone not approved by his handlers, Chief of Staff and McMasters. All the details describing limits to his access to information. And the strategies for making him stick to the words provided. It all sounded cheerful, with good globalists winning the best they can the control of the White House. This sounded like a house arrest to me.
The unspeakable cruelty of the US “leaders,” who are now mulling over killing a few million Koreans rather than even consider negotiations and stopping the threats and exercises, would make human beings with any feelings at all recoil in horror.
Starving out the enemy is a time-honored technique of siege warfare, as practiced for thousands of years. Nothing to see here, move along.
