While US officials have repeatedly make clear that their goal with respect to North Korea is denuclearization, Pentagon officials are increasingly willing to admit that they view the “only way” to accomplish that as not just a war, but a full-scale US ground invasion of North Korea.
Officials are a lot less willing to make public what the implications of such a protracted ground war would be, saying an accurate assessment of the losses in such a war would be difficult. It’s not a big secret, however.
At the very least, millions of people would die in this sort of war. The toll could be broad across the entire region, with millions presumed to die in South Korea alone, with Japan and Guam also likely to be targeted, and a “catastrophic” loss of US troops participating in the war.
A number of opponents on the war in Congress are pushing for more public assessments of the consequ4ences of the conflict, saying they believe the American public should know what’s at stake going in. These lawmakers are also keen to make it clear that President Trump cannot unilaterally attack North Korea without Congressional authorization.

The NBC article itself gives no proof that anyone at the Pentagon actually said this verbatim.
Media sources like NBC are agents of the US-European dual deep state. One deep state goal is to divide and conquer Western populations. This division and conquest is mplemented largely through media propaganda, which generates disinformation, contradiction, confusion and hatred. In this case, the deep state is trying to generate hatred for Trump and his policy of prevention of nuclear proliferation. Nonproliferation was once considered a noble cause. It remains a noble cause, as a matter of moral principle, whether the media or alternate media admit it is one or not.
This is not to say Trump is handling North Korea appropriately. He may be, or he may not be. His actual strategy may indeed be very different from what it appears on the surface. I am not speculating on this. My point is that it is unfair to base a commentary—one which might fuel unjustified hatred and anger toward the US President—on mainstream fake news.
Trump, despite his contradictions, remains our best hope for fighting the deep state. That’s why the deep state is trying to destroy him. At least be fair to Trump. If you are not willing to judge Trump based on fact and fairness, you are (perhaps unwittingly) a deep state advocate.

Well, logically, why would anyone in today’s Pentagon embrace any other approach besides aggressive military conflict? That’s been their raison de etre since the Defense Department’s inception.

Certainly is a different dialogue when Washington Zionists are not leading the propagandists. A war with Korea would use valuable soldiers and munitions which might otherwise be used for an attack on Iran.
I sure hope America’s friends (what’s left of them) advise Trump that they will not participate in a war with Korea and that the USA needs to stop antagonizing Korea thus feeding Korean indignation and military mobilization.

1. It is extremely unclear from the article above exactly who “these lawmakers” are. The linked article referenced makes no attempt to identify “these lawmakers” either. It would be nice if the author could identify them, to put their supposed statement in context. Just sayin’.

Whomever “these lawmakers” are, I find it unbelievable that “they” would even dare broach the subject of Congress even remotely taking their obligations and responsibilities seriously regarding voting to go to war…or not. Regarding this responsibility of declaring war, being on the record is not something they are prone to do.

Diplomacy is happening right now. Kim must perceive the U.S. resolve as real and valid, or he won’t negotiate. Concerning this “ground invasion” reference, it applies to the occupation and dismantling of these dangerous areas so they can be assessed and shut down as safely as possible. By the time that occurs, the DPRK would be out of business. So the ground “invasion” is really more of an occupation afterwards, not the tip of the spear.

Tip or not, the spear will almost certainly be Chinese, not American.
Of course, I’m cautious about asserting that nobody is dumb enough to do X. There’s SOMEONE who’s dumb enough to do ANYTHING. But I have trouble believing there are significant numbers of people at the general staff level of the US military who are dumb enough to contemplate a ground invasion of North Korea.

However, Israel’s Mossad stole uranium/plutonium from a site in Central Pennsylvania, with the consent of the site’s owner and brought it all back to the Dimona nuclear plant in the Negev Desert, for scientists and technicians to develop/produce nuclear weapons. Britain and France developed their own nukes with US help.
Please enlighten us as to why NK’s leadership isn’t rational. Acquiring nuclear weapons as a way of keeping the US from invading and executing Kim seems perfectly rational to me. It’s the US that is the aggressor here.
The only “threat by North Korea” is “we have nukes, if you attack us we will use them.”
The obviously solution to that “threat” is to not attack North Korea.
NK has been attacking military targets for years unprovoked and kidnapping perfectly innocent people, such as Japanese and others.
The regime is brutal.
These are all signs of aggressiveness.
No one has aggressed against NK nor would they. Aggressors would have to deal with the Chinese military and all that that means, and so an attack was out of the question.
The UN has condemned NK.
No one defends or should defend the NK regime or its behavior.
NK has had no need for nuclear weapons whatsoever.
The problem is people who give NK a break when it does not deserve any and have a reflexive anti-American stance.

there is no plan for A US ground invasion that would be a disaster for DC. No, DC wants China to invade and be stuck with the nightmare. A ground invasion would cost billions of dollars. money that would be diverted away from the well heeled execs at Boeing and the rest.
