The Russian Foreign Ministry today issued a statement complaining that the UN’s humanitarian aid to Syria is becoming increasingly politicized, and that the vast majority of the shipments being made are going into rebel territory, leaving the government-held areas under siege short on aid.
As an example, the foreign ministry cited the situation in Deir Ezzor, where an estimated 200,000 Syrians are trapped in government-held districts surrounded by ISIS, and in need of supplies, but that only about 1% of the UN’s overall aid to the country is actually going there.
Instead, they say the aid is mostly going into places held by al-Qaeda’s Nusra Front.. It’s not well documented where the UN is actually managing to deliver aid, as the UN officials responsible mostly just complain about not being able to get access to some places.
Struggles to get aid into Nusra’s East Aleppo have been a major focus, and to that end the Russian Defense Ministry offered its own separate statement offering to escort the UN aid convoys into the area. Russia halted their airstrikes against eastern Aleppo 44 days ago, in an attempt to get aid deliveries started and to support civilian evacuations. So far, however, there have been no UN deliveries.
Al Nusra is loosing Aleppo despite all UN and NATO help.
This is completely political bullshit. Playing politics with people’s lives is a hallmark of western elites. I can almost guarantee you that I personally, joe nobody, would have little to no issues if I wanted to truck in a load of food and water to ANY government held area in Syria. Hungry people on the way might cause a few extra stops, but hey that’s why we’re here, right?
I remember UN deliveries into a Moslem enclave in Bosnia back in the nineties. Those were declared safe zones, and the population was not supposed to be armed. In spite of that, Bosnian Moslems raided frequently Serbian villages outside if their protected enclaves, and killed a lots of people regularly. Where was ammunition coming from? One UN truck was thoroughly searched, and found a large amount of ammunition beneath a false floor. Illegally, arms were shipped into Croatia, from countries with
The only way UN can work is to insure that NATO countries that control UN SB and have thus a great deal of control in appointing key bureaucracies — manage the institution with global interests in mind, and the respect for law. But it has been managed like hunting grounds of a lord, with access not allowed to others. Or only given as a privilege to less deserving, provided that it has been earned by showing loyalty in voting on key issues in Assembly or in various committees, commissions, and agency projects.
Noting new. The global push is to portray the conflict in Syria as a civil war, nothing to do with terrorism. Having redefined terrorism as being synonym for ISIS — all other terrorist groups that have massacred Syrian population and poor soldiers that were caught alive, have been redefined as “opposition”. So, Syria and Russia are not fighting Islamic Salafi cults, the offshoot of Saudi Wahhabi sect. No, they are not fighting Al-Qaeda, under whatever latest name in East Aleppo. No, they are just fighting opposition — even if this opposition is Al-Zinka group that recently beheaded a child. Large scale humanization of these Islamic fanatics is well under way. There is a story of a nurse-photographer from East Aleppo. As if such a person would be able to walk around without being killed, raped or worse. Then, today, there is a story of a clown of East Aleppo. Naturally, there are White Helmets, and the child head choppers, Al-Zinka, are giving interview to Reuters, through their “political wing”. There is also a mention of their East Aleppo local councils! The fantasy machinery reminds one of a Star Trek Holodeck. And never a mention of the high quantity of home made drugs that these solders consume affecting their abilities to distinguish reality from hallucinations. And France 24 channel in US, has done a good job in staging interviews with people who fled Aleppo. They are not people who have finally escaped the years of being held captive without being allowed to leave — no, no. They are “displaced” people due to fighting. One tragedy of a family of four being attacked by artillery fire at the check point is highlighted, and even though it was clear that they had suitcases and were on the way out while attacked by the terrorists — it was left hanging in the air, as if it was possible that they were killed by government. Every possible embellishment is invented to portray the story of East Aleppo as a brave last stand of opposition, and the population voluntarily manning the barricades. Only music is lacking. Well, in no time, somebody is going to make a movie or a play on the heroism of East Aleppo.
Never mind the truth. How can all these people live with themselves?
They are so consumed by ideology — that “noble lies” like this, according to their guru, Strauss, are needed, so that the elite will keep the control of the preferred narrative. Only now, the global reach of such not so ‘noble” lies is frightening.
In Mosul, army is asking people to leave, so that they can fight ISIS. When Syria and Russia opened corridors for East Mosul population to leave, our UN Ambassador Samantha Power said that the mere idea “gives her chills”. And when population started running for freedom — and Al-Nusra shot them — not one peep was heard in the Western press.
We are living indeed in a bizarre world. Now Congress is passing laws protecting “good” press from the “bad”. I have no idea how will it work, but think of that — if mainstream press cannot be grown enough to ferret out false stories, to prove lies that somebody is peddling — why do we have them? They need Congress I guess to provide them with “safe space”, along with crayons, and petting zoo.
