Asked about the “worst mistake of his presidency” in a new interview, President Obama insisted it was the lack of further military intervention in Libya after imposing regime change on the nation in 2011, which he still insisted was “the right thing to do.”
Obama made similar comments last month about Libya, at the time bragging that the $1 billion war was “very cheap,” and blaming Britain and France for not doing more in the aftermath, saying British PM David Cameron “got “distracted.”
The Libya regime change has become increasingly politically relevant in the US, with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seen as a major architect of the war, and has been campaigning on the “success” of the war.
It’s also important because the US, along with several Western European nations, are interested in attacking Libya again, this time to fight against ISIS, which set up shop in the nation after the last disastrous NATO intervention there.
Obama is a liar and a master bullshitter.
Their are few rivals in contemporary government equal to the appalling mendacity, arrogance and sheer abject stupidity of the Obamas, along with their Clintons, Bidens and Kerrys, Powers, Rices and Nulands, including the entire roster of Obama’s filthy neo-liberal corporate regime, presently leaving office with an interminable roster of conspicuously wanton criminal acts committed in flagrant violation of both International law and the US Constitution.
Most pathetically in the remaining months of this failed mandate the nation will be be subjected to Obama’s interminable ‘droning’ on about his so called ‘successes’ and failures as if it could possible matter to humanity about what this confirmed pathological liar and narcissist thinks about himself and his ultimate abuse and projection of power in support of corporate financialization, Wall Street, the US Military- Industrial Complex and the 0.01%.
Apart from Mr. Saunders, the stellar roster now viciously competing for the seat of chief executive for corporate USA leaves one to conclude that the future augers absolute zero chance for optimism towards change that could actually benefit the welfare of the general population at large and the global community of nations, and to address the most critical and urgent problems confronting mankind: population, global warming, climate change, environmental destruction, depletion of natural resources ,nuclear arms proliferation and continued use of nuclear energy which is more costly and inadvertantly deadlier than all and any possible alternatives.
Whether from the Cowboy-Cruz, the Hedge-fund-‘we came, we saw, he died, ha ha ha’- -Clinton or the marvelously miraculous comb-over called Trump, the arguments to be promulgated following the inauguration in January are to be that everything under the ‘new” mandate will be peace and better than butter as soon as ‘we’ have ‘deployed, destroyed and annihilated the enemy’, be it Mexico, ISIS, Al-Qaida (oops, now a principle ally) Taliban, Nusrat-al-Fatah, Mr.Assad, Mr. Ghadaffi, Boko Harum, Mr. Putin, China, Communism, Socialism, Canada, ‘pivot to the East’, pivot to the West’ or whatever is deemed necessary and indispensable to insure the long interminable list of ‘enemies of state’ remains to justify the machines of the Pentagon-CIA-NATO Inc., well oiled and saturated with unlimited funds which absorb properly 60% of all government revenues in one form or another. Good luck, we shall indeed need it!
How forgetful—Nothing has changed since Reagan and Bush took office–destroy 7 middle east countries.
The “seven sisters” have consistently drilled for and produced crude oil in nations ruled by dictators. No problem as long as the dictatorship was predictable. Qaddafi was considered highly unpredictable hence he had to be overthrown at the first convenient opportunity. Libya was an artificial construct of tribal regions basically enemies of one another. There was always the chance that one group or another would try to overthrow Qaddafi. Such groups were always open to foreign encouragement and support. When there was unrest in Benghazi the Obama administration, fearful that cheap Libyan oil available for Euro’s only would wreck its goal to make the US the world’s number one crude producer, pounced.
Obama’s biggest error was approving the implementation of the infamous Arab Spring which set North Africa and the Middle East on fire. Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and Syria went up in smoke using social media as a weapon and importing and arming anti-government terrorists. Western media was used 24/7 to fan the flames and obtain public support.
Mar 11, 2015 Prof. Michel Chossudovsky: Terrorism is Made in the USA.
The Global War on Terrorism is a Big Lie! Dr. Chossudovsky said terrorism is made in the US and that terrorists are not the product of the Muslim world. Prominent academic and author Dr Michel Chossudovsky warned that the so-called war on terrorism is a front to propagate America’s global hegemony and create a New World Order.

The only reason the US got the Security Council resolution authorizing action was its promise not to do more. Russia rightly feels the US already far overstepped that resolution.
Obama’s comments suggest simple defiance of that. It would not have worked out well. How exactly it would have gone bad is hard to predict with counterfactual historical prognostications, but is near certain that it would have gone badly to defy even further Russia, China, and the UN authorization.
OR LESS, if the US didn’t fund anybody in Libya or Syria we wouldn’t have the current mess at all! No Al Nusra Front no ISIS, No International Crisis in relation to refugees! US Regime change has much to answer for!
