Israel announced on Army Radio today that they have “appropriated” a large tract of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, confiscating some 579 acres (2.3 square kilometers), which NGO Peace Now referred to as the largest single confiscation of territory in years.
The territory seized is near the Palestinian city of Jericho, and is reportedly slated to be used in the expansion of Jewish settlements in the area, to further prevent the potential of forming a contiguous Palestinian state in the future.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the move as illegal, and urged Israel to immediately reverse the seizure of Palestinian territory in the interest of a comprehensive peace deal. US officials also said the seizure was “fundamentally undermining” the peace process.
Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon refused to comment on the confiscation to the media, though other ministerial officials insisted the seizure was “in accordance with the decision of the political level.”
less to prevent it from being contiguous, the seizing of land in the jordan valley around jerico is to prevent the west bank from having any access to the out side world.
It’s just a matter of time before Palestinians will be rounded up
and placed into a place called “reservation.”
I can think of worst fates than a Palestinian casino..
Israel/Palestine is too small for “reservations”. The end result would be a mass exile of Palestinians.
Luckily the EU is well trained in handling Arab refugees by the millions and the world had gotten real good at turning a blind eye on mid east wars
I suspect they will be “encouraged” to leave, anywhere, just go. The basic theme is life is impossible for them there.
Typical Israeli arrogance.Everybody gets payback,eventually.
The MSM has this all over the front pages! Not,of course.
At some point already passed Israel took so much that it must either be forced out of a lot or it must accept the Palestinians as citizens in one state. This particular seizure is wrong, but only because the whole process is a farce and wrong. One more matters only to make the point that an end must come.
“…seizure was “fundamentally undermining” the peace process.”
News flash…the Israelis are no longer attempting to convince the world that they are really interested in a “peace process.” They’ve actually never really been interested in making the kind of peace the rest of the world has been lead to believe was being pursued. Now, they’re increasing the speed and size of the land seizures before the rest of the world shuts them down. Personally, I don’t believe the rest of the world has the cajones to b!tchslap the Israelis – nor the inclination to do so.
Time for the civilized world to excise the cancer that is Israel
Airstrikes on Tel Aviv are way overdue. The only language that the illegitimate thieves of Palestine understand is force. Bring the violence to Tel Aviv with all means! NOW!
