Officials familiar with the situation in the wake of Saturday’s US raid on ISIS in Syria claim that they acquired a “treasure trove” of intelligence material during the operation, potentially more valuable an acquisition than the killing of Abu Sayyaf was.
Sayyaf’s killing was said to have been the goal of the ground offensive, with Pentagon officials claiming the heretofore barely mentioned ISIS figure was a “senior leader.”
Defense officials say they seized the documents after defeating Sayyaf’s bodyguards in hand-to-hand combat, and killing him. Officials said the operation was “not high risk.”
The documents they seized are said to include both some details on ISIS’ financial operations as well as their organizational structure, things which the US has been remarkably in the dark on recently.
This sounds just like the bullsh!t story of the bin Laden raid. Can't the Feds afford to hire some creative writers?
Remember ARGO
Maybe some of that treasure trove of intelligence includes the "surprise" offensive on Ramadi. Maybe this raid was meant to deflect attention from the obvious crushing defeat of U.S. allies in the two day Ramadi ISIS offensive. If only they had made the "low risk" raid on this compound a bit earlier Ramadi could have been saved. Even though there was speculation for months in the media that Ramadi and all of Anbar was a target of ISIS. Maybe they will discover ISIS will target Badhdad next and the city will be saved by Iraqi troops far less motivated then ISIS. Maybe if Baghdad falls the U.S. can save face by seeing Assad fall to ISIS? That would make our allies Saudi Arabia and Turkey happy. And maybe Saudi Arabia will win our war on Yemen too so while we "loose" Iraq to ISIS at least Syria and Yemen will be counted as a victory for the Washington strategy of chaos in the Middle East.
This is to combat the OBL murder screwup, not capturing him and interrogating him for info, which as a guy locked up for 6 years,he had none,so of course that's why we didn't interrogate him.
Or his double?crazy world.
