The Obama Administration is struggling to figure out their narrative on the ongoing ISIS war in Iraq, with increased Iranian involvement on the ground, on the same side as the US, complicating their story.
Defense Secretary Ash Carter confirmed today that the US is “concerned” by Iran’s involvement, which Sen. John McCain (R – AZ) termed as Iran “basically taking over the fight.”
Other administration aides are still trying to spin this as Iran playing into America’s hands, with some bragging that the American war is success “largely because of Iran.”
That’s going to be a tough story to keep pushing, however, with officials simultaneously trying to downplay any links to Iran, even though they’re on the same side in this war, and insisting that they don’t coordinate together under any circumstances.
That lack of coordination has forced Iraq to basically choose between the US and Iran for big missions, and the Tikrit offensive had them choosing Iran, and not involving the US. While the administration may hope to claim “victory” if the Tikrit battle goes well, the bigger risk for the hawks may be the Iraq will increasingly decide that they’re better off with Iran than the US.
Iran should listen to the voice of reality and take to heart the fact that NATO nations have but one goal, a worldwide dictatorship and that means the total destruction of Iran, Syria, Palestine and Lebanon. So, expand all your ties with Russia and China and terminate all economical ties with any NATO nation.
Of cource, US is only fulling conflicts. Banksters and Mil.Ind.Complex wants wars to last – as usual. I wish US people /mostly Sheeple/ used a bit their brain and understood, that it is US sponsoring conflicts around the globe at their expense….Many US people still thing, that US is something special, but opposite is truth. Its most hated country after brutal appartheid Israels régime.
Majority of World population see China, Russia, even Iran as real opposite to endless US aggression and colonization. Pedro CR
do you get the feeling that the US gov is somehow going to attack Iran sooner or later…
russia needs to give iran a bunch of nukes ..just like they did in the moive The Peacmakers…
if Iran had nukes their would be no talk of trying to destroy it like there is constantly in the US for 10 20 30 years now
McCain; "Iran is taking over the fight". McCain's remorse; " Oh, No; there is a battle going on in Iraq, for Tikrit; and we have no American dead. What a terrible turn of events".
I'm amazed that the Iraqi shift to Iran has taken this long to happen. Perhaps Iran did a better job of getting "their" man into power in Baghdad than the US did. It also didn't help that the US attempted to play both sides in the sectarian conflict between Shiia and Sunni.
If you don't understand the underpinnings of a conflict then the likelihood of finding a solution is very low.
US is concerned because Iran and Iraq have finally teamed up and are kicking the crap out of the ISIS proxy boogeyman whom we bomb but still gains territory.
They are not following the script. http://blogs.rediff.com/mkbhadrakumar/2015/03/03/…
Given Iraq's look at Life With America over the past couple of decades, I'm not surprised at all they'd look to Iran. At its most basic, why on earth would any Iraqi trust America for a) installing a dictator who was then too much of a bad guy even for American interests and needed to be killed, and b) destroying their nation in a military war of conquest predicated on lies and half-truth? That's not even counting the gross mistreatment of Iraq in the post-war years- as was said earlier, Iraq should probably have turned to Iran a lot sooner to get back on its feet.
Here is a war in which Americans are not leading and evidently not pulling the shots or giving the orders. Under any other condition the US would be more than happy to count with help. Yet this is a case in which ¨if it is not as we say we do not want it¨. Mc Cain brays that they are stealing the show; yet the real reason for all this handwringing is that Iran has a hands on approach-they are right next door!-which is embarrassing the ´air superiority´ crowd and putting Saudi Arabia in a bad light. Yet what undoubtedly is most offensive to the US politicians is that Iran´s actions give it credibility and standing in international eyes. God forbid! what will the Israelite handlers say about such a terrible oversight on thye US´s part.? Somehow you can not turn a rock in the Middle East without finding the Israelite crawling underneath.
