At least 30 people were killed and 97 others wounded on Saturday when missiles hit a residential district in the eastern Ukrainian port city of Mariupol, adding to the rising death toll after the ceasefire collapsed last week.
Eastern Ukrainian rebels confirmed they are in the process of launching an offensive against government-held Mariupol, with an eye toward expelling the military from the Donetsk Oblast. They deny firing any rockets, however.
The Ukrainian military, ever looking to escalate things internationally, claimed the attack was a “crime against humanity committed by the Russian military.” As usual they offered no evidence for this assessment.
Such a situation is all-too-common on both sides on the ongoing East Ukrainian war, as massive civilian casualties in the war are regularly denied by each side, even when usually only one or the other would’ve plausibly been attacking the area.
Problem with Mariupol that nobody is reporting for fear of making it worse, are atrocities of so called "punitive" expedition of Azov brigades. This group of volunteers/mercenaries are committing atrocities against the majority Russian population that is subject to Ukrainian rule. Since MAJORITY of population is Russian, and not just the city of Mariupol, but also the entire region called Zaporozhye. It will be important to find out if those residential areas were entirely Russian — in which case it is possible that the undisciplined Azov groups just took revenge upon Russian population for the loss of Donetsk airport. Knowing the reputation of Azov groups, there are probably mass graves in the area — just as the ones found in Donetsk after rebels recaptured areas previously held by Ukrainian forces. The problem Ukraine has — it has hundreds of groups that Government does not control. And they are targeting civilians. Western media failed to report on previous findings — or at least, reported the events in confusing manner that it was impossible to determine who is to blame. Other majority Russian regions are also seething under the rule of week military and unruly groups including criminals. The following Russian areas are under harsh, occupation style rule: Khrakov, Dnyepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Herson, Mykolaev and Odessa.
The coverage of events by Western press is appaling. There is no objectivity. Makes me wonder episodes of European attempts at getting Russia were not exception — but rather genetic predisposition. As if Hitler did not take enough Russian blood, now they are coming for more — this time utilizing captive Ukrainian people who would have NEVER in a free election brought such people to power. Indeed, Maidan coup was the only way to pull this off.
At WRH yesterday–a video Eastern Ukraine showed a heavy loaded military soldier dressed who was confronted by a female russian reported to speak–replied in perfect American tone and slang–"GET OUT OF MY FACE"
"…coverage of events by Western press…"
The problem with western coverage is that there is no western coverage. The US MSM are more interested and are investing significant manpower resources covering (in-person & on-site, of course) the "re-opening of Cuba" to the American tourist. They are also more interested in reporting on the foolishness being called "deflategate"- an affair involving soft balls and cheating by an American football team who, BTW, have a history of cheating…so it's no wonder the life/death issues in E. Ukraine are not making the headlines. Old news.
Re Cuba.
When Gaddafi got the Lockerbie business behind him and "renormalized" Libya's relationship with the rest of the world, the neocon regime-changers swarmed in, Chris Stevens set up a CIA shop in Benghazi, seat of Gaddafi's opposition, and the rest is history. Or as Hag of War Hillary said, "We came, we saw, he died."
Can there be the slightest doubt that the new "opening" to Cuba will "open" just enough — and no further — for plane loads of CIA-trained anti-Castro Cuban-American spooks and Neocon regime-changers to swarm the country in an effort to "liberate" Cuba the way they "liberated" Libya. Without question Cuban Intelligence will have a plan to counter this regime-change effort.
So don't be taken in by all the warm and fuzzy talk about "normalization". Subversion, chaos, and death — ie the usual — is the Empire's plan.
Besides, MSM is loath to report on situations not going as planned for the elites.
Yeah, it really sucks…
UAF forces were firing rockets at the advancing NAF forces, and appear to not have dialed in their aim, thus fell short and hit in town. . .Easier to blame the advancing NAF, and get propaganda out of the horror.
