Trying to boost support for NSA surveillance, House Speaker John Boehner (R – OH) claimed that an NSA wiretap was the key to capturing a 20-year-old Cincinnati man the FBI has labeled a “jihadist.”
The FBI claimed the man, Christopher Cornell, plotted to bomb the Capitol building, and had cited “tipsters” who told them about Cornell’s Twitter posts, crediting their own informants for the arrest. They never mentioned the NSA.
Boehner insisted the FBI affidavit wasn’t the whole story, and says the US would’ve never known about Cornell’s putative plot if the NSA wasn’t wiretap him.
It will be interesting to see if any more information comes out on this, as Cornell has never even been alleged to have had any foreign contacts, so it’s unclear how the NSA would’ve conceivably gotten involved, apart from the sort of wholesale surveillance of random Americans they continue to insist they’d never do.
The boy’s father asks a question:
“As my son has not the ability to support himself, from who did he get the $2,000 to buy those guns? From the FBI, that is who.”
Perfection in glorification of government — Something smells rotten in government
(1) Perfect timing to get a perfectly horrible bill passed, a law in full and perfect violation of the Constitution.
(2) A criminal act of terrorism, a more full and perfect crime against government there could never be.
(3) A full and perfect glorification of the FBI government and NSA government.
(4) The U.S. Congress, the most priceless and perfect building in all of government, even.
(5) The criminal an unemployed and impoverished laboring man, the most perfect excuse possible for why U.S. government incarcerates over a fourth of all the prisoners on earth, with 95% of them impoverished laboring men, with 95% of their crimes being nonviolent.
Imagine that…Boehner lying to create a false storyline. Can anyone say…yellowcake?
If the man didn't have any contact with foreign 'jihadists', and was a stay-at-home mama's boy, why would the NSA have a wiretap on him in the first place? What had he done to warrant being investigated? And why has no mention of this been made anywhere? Surely the NSA wants a piece of the pie as well?
