The US was remarkably ambivalent about the recent fighting in Donetsk, where over 100 rebels were slain, many of them in attacks on trucks carrying the wounded, but were officially “disturbed” today by news of a military helicopter getting shot down in Slovyansk.
And when the US gets disturbed, they start complaining to Russia. Today’s talks between John Kerry and Russian FM Sergey Lavrov centered around Kerry demanding Russia officially condemn the secessionist fighters in Ukraine’s east and force them to disarm and surrender to the central government.
Kerry also reportedly confronted Russia about allegations of Chechen fighters entering Ukraine on Russia’s behalf, a rather absurd notion considering long-standing tensions in Chechnya.
The State Department also downplayed complaints of excessive force by attacking Ukrainian troops against the ethnic Russian easterners, insisting they were not aware of any such concerns, and are comfortable that the central government’s invasion of the east is in keeping with international law. They also insisted the fighting wasn’t a “real” civil war, claiming the secessionists are all “foreigners” sent by Russia to create mayhem.
Among a long list of other things (here: http://empireslayer.blogspot.com/2014/05/usa-need… the USA is going to have to stop supporting terrorist attacks against Syria if it ever wants to start the process of becoming a country that could one day be considered credible.
Call the men in white coats – Kerry is insane.
I expected to read here the leaked statement of US ambassador in Ukraine, that military use should be enforced and that 2000 deaths are possible for US media to downplay:
20:01 [Ria Novosti]

Does antiwar only use U.S. or English language sources?
I've never seen anything but English language sources referenced here.
How does Kerry manage to act like a complete idiot every time he open his mouth? Syria is also not a "real" civil war, they are "foreigners" sent and trained by the US to create mayhem.
Imagine that Russia behave like USA : pay 5 millions euros in order to destabilise political regime in Canada. After the coup ask the parlement to supress english language and give to french language official status. Then organise elections without english speaking candidates etc,…how will the world react ?
The USG has gone totally mad.
Whilst Kiev is murdering its own citizens in Eastern Ukraine the USG wants Russia to ORDER Ukrainanians to SURRENDER to the facist thugs and be murdered..
Life, Liberty and the persuit of freedom is not for Ukraine's East. Its only for the thugs in the West.
Nazi thugs at that!
In Europe they have good clinics to handdle such cases.Maybe they will accept to take Kerry for free in order to make some publicity.
Jason thinks Chechens fighting alongside Russians is an "absurd notion". Of course it isn't. On the complex maps of conflicts in the former USSR, the Chechen fighters were fought on both sides: pro- and anti-Russian. The most famous example of this is commander Basayev who came to be known as the "Beast of Beslan" for his dastardly attack on an elementary school in North Ossetia. During the 1992-1993 war in Abkhazia he was fighting alongside the pro-Russian Abkhazians against Shevarnadze's Georgians. Chechen militias were seen in Georgia in 2008 as well. Since Chechnya today is ruled by a pro-Russian warlord (whose father switched sides to become Moscow's ally) it is quite possible Chechens are involved. My guess though is that the fighters from Caucasus, including the Kuban Cossacks, are unorganized bands of volunteer fighters faithful to their martial culture that require men to prove themselves in battle.
Mr. Swiftboat is an imbecile. Every time he opens his mouth, he reinforces (my) opinion
Hunter Biden, son if Joe Biden is going to head the Ukrainian gas company, esteem Ukraine is where all gas reserves are located, so, without eastern Ukrainian gas there won't be any IMF loans of €20 or whatever the billions and not a long term executive operating managerial contract for Hunter Biden either. Having said that: the situation reminds me of the billions of Libyan € and $ invested in Europe, China and USA, what happened to it? It also reminds of when Paul Wolfowitz was elected the very same position at IMF which turned out that he is stealing money giving it to his girl friend, what happened to that story? We know that creating the present Ukrainian situation costed the America working people $5 billion dollars spend by state department, which one need to ask this question, is state department in business of favoritism to IMF where he (Hunter Biden) would be their hope to get their hands on Ukrainian people's wealth, whereby IMF is going to OK the loan amount? If that's the case, then they have all the rights to demand whatever their demands is about, now if is going to be materialized is another story, isn't it.
Mr Ditz is looking increasingly pathetic as he clings grimly to the wreckage of his "invasion" mantra. There are only two options, either Russia is facilitating the infiltration of Russian contractors' mercenaries into Ukraine or the Russian government has so little control over its own territory that oligrach/warlords can move private armies around with impunity. In the latter case, the Russian Federation is manifestly falling apart!
Third possibility: the ethnic Russian separatist fighters are in fact local people who are frightened of being ruled by ethnic chauvinist Ukrainians in Kiev and points west. Their weapons may come from arms factories in the eastern regions under separatist control.
Fourth possibility: The separatists are local ethnic Russians getting their arms from Russia.
Fifth possibility: Combination of the third and fourth possibilities.
Sixth possibility: you are an idiot. this is also the first certainty.
If the Russians were stupid enough to do as Kerry asks, and they are not, the "Thugs-R-Us" Kiev regime would soon produce a pile of bodies that even Kerry would have a hard time blaming on the Russians.
It does mean Kerry wouldn't try. Kerry,"It is the Russian's fault that those people were killed by Kiev. They asked them to surrender even though it was us, the United States who told the to do so."
In fact what is happening in Ukraine is a result of Obama politics. If Washington does not stop Kiev, the crimes commited by them are the crimes comitted by Obama himself.Has he a conscience ?Should we send him video reports of afraid children in basements of buildings that his friends of ukrainian gard are bombing ?
This reminds me of Central America where the U.S. funded death squads to terrorize the populace until they voted the way they wanted them to.
