More details continue to emerge on the disagreements that prevented an expected weekend pact between the P5+1 and Iran, with a last minute side conversation between Secretary of State John Kerry and his French counterpart Laurent Fabius apparently keeping it from continuing.
Fabius demanded last second changes to the draft agreement, including removing a clause guaranteeing Iran’s right to civilian uranium enrichment. Kerry reportedly endorsed that demand.
Iran has, under its safeguards agreement, every right to enrich uranium for civilian purposes, and has insisted they are willing to limit that enrichment, but not abandon the right outright.
That already put the talks on shaky ground, and Fabius followed it up with a demand that Iran abandon the under construction Arak reactor, which runs on unenriched uranium. Between the two demands this amounted to a de facto demand to surrender their entire civilian nuclear program, but the US and France continued to insist on only minor sanction relief. At that point though, the deal was dead and everyone just decided to meet again later this month.
Tell ya what a man would've done: tell Fabius: "alright, so you go explain to the press why you don't think they have a right to enrich. We'll wait here for you."
And then Fabius wanted another shrubbery. And then he demanded that the Iranians cut down the mightiest Olive Tree on Palestinian Territory with a herring.
And Kerry agreed to it all.
Can someone please swiftboat him off his current job.

It is in reality Frances FAULT that Iran is even enriching Uranium!
We should remember that Iran paid France to enrich Yellow cake for its reactors, they paid cash up front AND they provided the yellow cake for enrichment and it was for their existing reactor built by the Americans to provide medical isotopes for Iran! What did France do kept the money AND the enriched Uranium and never returned them!
Iran decided under its NPT rights to become self sufficient again their right under NPT and IAEA rules!
Fabius it is because the French stole the Iranian Property that there is this mess!
What do the effin French have anything to do with this deal is what boggles my mind. They constantly stick their tallywacker into a mess and demand others to clean up.
It was plain to see that Kerry was lying and the Iranians were not.
Fabius was chosen to do the dirty work
With Israel proffering threats and Saudi Arabia offering bribes, how could the French refuse? "If you sign this, there'll be war," the French MP who is a dual-citizen with Israel told Fabius. And you thought only the United States had those people. And then the Saudis stepped up and offered to buy ten billion dollars worth of arms.
And then there's the Iranian deputy prime minister assassinated in Tehran the other day.
People should realize that it's not France at fault here. It's Israel and Saudi Arabia hell-bent on several wars that they want Americans to fight it for them. And indignant and outraged that America should be reluctant to follow their orders. And why not? They seen America follow their orders in the past.
But we're a long way from "a strain on relations" here. Americans should be outraged that these two postage stamp countries should be openly and blatantly angling to undermine American efforts to avoid war. These are no friends of the United States. They should be treated as the enemies they really are.
It does not matter what Iran agrees to the zionist's puppets will simply keep moving the goal. This time it was France the next time it will be the UK then the Germans. And when Iran finally refuses to completely shutter it's peaceful nuclear program the puppets will use that as an excuse to attack.
Kerry would never have endorsed Iran's right to enrichment. That has been the fundamental US position for ages – for all countries. The US has always said that NO country has a right to enrich – because that allows the US to put conditions on any country's nuclear energy program.
If Kerry endorsed that position, it was ONLY because he KNEW that France was going to torpedo the deal – or that HE was going to torpedo the deal at the last minute – as the Iranian negotiator Zarif has said the US did.
