Elaborating on Tuesday’s UN General Assembly speech in opposition to nuclear weapons, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called on all nations to relinquish such weapons, and urged Israel in particular to sign the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Israel is the only nation within the Middle East with a nuclear arsenal, and also the only nation in the region that hasn’t ratified the NPT. Rouhani endorsed the idea of a nuclear free Middle East, saying that it was time to follow through on decades of talking to that effect and ideally expand it worldwide.
Israeli officials have repeatedly ruled out ever signing the NPT, and the Obama Administration has backed their stance, saying that Israel has a “right” to nuclear weapons.
Rouhani’s comments today came in the context of a speech as current head of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the body has repeatedly backed the right to civilian nuclear technology for all nations, including Iran.
When the NAM made that speech about the "right to civilian nuclear technology for all nations," they completely forget to mention that the US and Israel don't recognize Iran as a nation.
Now the whole world will see who the REAL terrorists are and which Nations are those against real PEACE in the Middle East.
But Israel is the poor, innocent, helpless victim surrounded by warmongering states that wage war to destroy their enemy!
The US is "Exceptional" and therefore above mere world opinion – when the US creates their own "realities" and writes the rules for the rest of the world, how else can the US be viewed except as "Exceptional" – besides, Romney, McCain and the half-Governor Palin have stated so.
why doesnt this site point that aipac is completely against any US/iran chats

Negotiations with Iran Must Be Backed by Strength

these are the most unamerican people in the world…constantly trying to make trouble for the US
Various Iranian officials have been proposing a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East for years, but the utterly incompetent Ahmadinejad was too busy making the message unhearable in the West by adding his Holocaust denial crap to the mix. Finally we see an Iranian president who knows how to frame his message in a way that some Americans can hear and comprehend.
Soooooo….. if Israel has a "right" to nuclear weapons, why doesn't Iran have a "right" to them as well? The hypocrisy is astoundingly brazen.
Israel has no more of a right to nuclear weapons than Iran does. All countries should dispose of these weapons. They're only a danger to the world and the environment.
That would be like asking a hyena to give up a gnu knuckle.
Everyone should know by now, that Israel has a right to what ever it wants and can do what ever it pleases. So there!
Here is a US citizen's questions for Secretary Kerry: (1) Why has our Government been imposing economic sanctions on Iran for the stated purpose of preventing Iran from getting nuclear weapons, when our own US intelligence agencies have since 2007 repeatedly found that Iran is not attempting to develop nuclear weapons and in fact ceased attempting to do so in 2003? (2) In light of US intelligence findings that Iran has had no nuclear weapons program for the past decade, why did President Obama's official spokesman (Jay Carney) state to Washington reporters on September 19 that "Iran must give up its nuclear weapons program"? (3) How can anyone be expected to give credence to a US Government which apparently feels free to say whatever it pleases about Iran's nuclear program, even when such statements are plainly contrary to facts established by our Government's own official intelligence findings?
