Polls keep coming out day after day reiterating that a strong majority of the American public opposes attacking Syria. President Obama’s recent speeches, and the many John Kerry speeches, have not budged the figures meaningfully.
President Obama, facing the prospect of a huge defeat in Congress driven by public opposition to the war, has announced that he is planning another pro-war speech to the American public on Tuesday, while continuing to heavily lobby Congress and the international community to accept the US attack.
And with the typical smugness that so far hasn’t cowed the American public into acceptance yet, Obama went on to say that he is “confident” that after the speech the American public will “want” a military strike on Syria.
So far the public speeches have centered around the twin ideas of pushing a “limited war” and claiming secret, unquestionable proof for their narrative. Lies clearly haven’t been working, but it isn’t clear what else the administration has to resort to, let alone how President Obama can remain so confident in his ability to sell this war.
Anyone intent on stopping Congressional authorization of the proposed US War against Syria, and All that will follow in its wake, should send the following simple message (by local picture postcard; not by e-mail or Tweetter, etc) to their Senators and Congressional Representative:
Memo to Senators ______ and ______, and Congresswoman/man ______:
As you prepare to decide how to vote on Congressional authorization of the proposed US War
against Syria, and All that will follow in its wake, please bear the following in mind:
A Vote For War is a Vote Against Your Re-election. Ever again. And please understand: this is
not a threat; this is a promise.
Sincerely,
This War must be stopped. This War can be stopped. This War will be stopped.

Beware of a trumped up, Reichstag Fire-like event.
This is one of his confident in himself confined and shunned by the majority of the world government and at home, yet he is so willing to comply with the tyrants demand that if his asked to return his peace prize he will do so in exchange for a tyrannic peace prize. In the other hand, any war is nothing but war and war is about destructions and killing people, in case of Syria, bad people are getting paid by saudis and UAE, good people are refuges and heroes are murmured-beheaded by barbarians.
I think he will be aiming his remarks to his now-skepitcal base. His handlers may be thinking he can use his base to write and call to urge Congress to vote yes. He especially wants to influence the Senate. Here's an excerpt from Moon of Alabama concerning the last clause of the AUMF in Syria:
"That last clause.contradicts the constitution as well as the War Powers Resolution of 1973. It gives the president unlimited power to wage war anytime he finds the wobbly defined "national interest" of the United States endangered. It is huge blank check.
"Why are the Senators on the verge of handing such power to the president? It makes life easier for them. It can push off their responsibility to decalre wars and blame the president when things go wrong. It is a dereliction of the Senate's duty.
"While the AUMF looks likely to be defeated in the House, a positive vote in the Senate on these new presidential powers would be taken by this and future presidents as a precedent and would support any future case in which the president wants to go to war without consulting with Congress.
"The citizens of the United States should concentrate on defeating this Senate vote. Call your Senators before you call your House members and ask them to vote against this overarching claim of presidential powers. " http://www.moonofalabama.org/2013/09/senate-surre…
We must contact our Senators.
Sure Mr. Obama your speech will be filled with the same rhetoric, lies, lies and more lies. Why not tell the people the truth," We are going to war because AIPAC has a gun to my head".
One benefit of the ongoing and ever increasing rabid polarization fertilized by talk radio, talking heads, speeches – from the inspired to inane and even insane – in the targeted bombarding of the American public is that voters are beginning to see a difference between talk (easy) and deeds (hard).
It now appears that the number of us who can remember what politicians did for longer than one news cycle and tune out what they say may be reaching a majority.
So, babble on Mr. President, Mr Secretary or Mr. or Ms representative and Mr. or Ms. Committee chair or party leader – it matters not. We'll be watching what you do and, particularly, how you vote as a guide to how we vote.
I'd hope that's the effect. I'm watching GWoT-Suckers who normally had FOX and 'patriot' radio turned on all day pop in a dvd or turn to e.g. NCIS. I think the current 'debate' doesn't fit their preferred psychodrama; having something to do with partisan politics and da-gubment smiting 'evil.' It's amazing to me that those people can -and how dare they- turn away now. After all the cheerleading they did. On the other hand, this 'dare you' feature of WH rhetoric should probably concern us; I think there's a real cultural impact to seeing dares like that unmet. It's happening more often than most of us notice; which are taken and which are not indicate something.
Also worth noting as a possible indication of pols and pundits catching on to the absurdity of their own rhetoric is the drop in references to "the American people". The president is now, apparently, using the "American public".
Even before Mitt certified that "corporations are people too, my friend" for me and, I hope, for an increasing number of others, "people" conjures up images of multinational corporations and special interest groups – not natural persons.
'People' usually toggles a little cynicism in me, but not quite what you're describing. I'd be pleased if the latter's a common response. It'd be perfect if they could be boxed-in to non-emotive language, maybe even accurate… then try selling a war… But they adapt, flailing around for other bs.
Obama will be reading from dummy cards prepared by AIPAC. The al-Assad regime will be compared to Hitler's Third Reich. I hope the American people are smart enough not to fall for the pablum we are going to hear on Tuesday night. This will be coming from a bozo who preached 'change' and (won) the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
Just slightly off topic but I wonder why no one in the press has asked the seemingly presumptive nominee Mrs. Clinton what she thinks? Seem to remember that she was an advocate of attacking Iraq which really had less "proof" than the lies we're being told now. Could it be that she doesn't want to lay down a marker that might become campaign fodder for the opposition? Joe Biden has been relatively silent concerning this issue also but we all know that Joe tends to bend with the wind. Just curious…
The USA always supports endless wars for Israel, it all started a decade ago after a false flag attack.

Obama must be arrested as a war criminal and be sent to ICC, a brothel house. As long as these criminals are not hold responsible and not punished for their crimes, then they continue to massacre other groups and nationalist leaders with their families , to serve the interest of the "world government". Obama, Kerry, Samantha power, Hillary Clinton, Kissinger are working for, WG not the United State. Then, they are considered traitors and 5th column.
Obama must be impeached NOW.
USA! USA! USA! Ooops! Sorry I mean Eretz Israel ! Eretz Israel ! Eretz Israel ! Eretz Israel !
