Last week’s story of the US Air Force’s Chief Sexual Assault Prevention and Response officer being arrested for sexual assault may have been embarrassing, but it seems to have been the tip of the iceberg.
Today’s story features a much worse incident in the Army, with reports that the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) coordinator for Fort Hood was caught running an on-base prostitution ring and sexually abusing female soldiers under his command. He was also accused of forcing subordinate female soldiers into prostitution.
The soldier was identified as Sgt. First Class Gregory McQueen, and in the face of allegations ranging from sexual abuse to pimping and misuse of power, he has been suspending from his duties, though officials maintain he has yet to actually be charged with crimes related to this.
Officials familiar with the situation say Sgt. McQueen got his start when he persuaded a private under his command to sell sexual favors to other soldiers. The ring grew but he was finally caught after he approached another private as a potential recruit and sexually assaulted her when she refused to be a prostitute. She reported the attack to military officials.
The military was already facing major criticisms for its inability to get a grip on their systemic sexual assault problems, and with every new scandal it becomes painfully apparent that they are failing miserably in these attempts, drawing ire from the civilian leadership of the Defense Department as well as Congress.
Army Secretary John McHugh termed the latest incident “sickening,” while Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel was said to be gravely concerned by the “breakdown in discipline” in the ranks of the military evidenced by such incidents.
Somehow, I am not surprised. An army of one …. shit.
Sickening. With the dregs of society and degenerates like this in the military, the only reason groups like the Taliban don't hand their rear ends to them even more than what they're doing now is because the US military still has the superior technology–paid for by us suckers.
The sexual assault in the military story is rapidly becoming a witch hunt with a salivating media peddling increasingly sensational stories on the slightest evidence. This development is not surprising given the history of similar hysterias.
I have to agree with you. I don't really believe that female recruits are being forced into prostitution. There is a multitude of misconduct in the military, but this story lacks credibility.
By "breakdown in discipline", I wonder if Hagel is referring to troops who defy their commanding officers?
Had one of those women shot him, she'd have been treated like a terrorist, particularly if she was of Mideast origins. How many IEDs are planted by aggrieved family members of women raped by these types? We'll never know. But the fact that rape is part of the military culture means that revenge (on anyone wearing the uniform) is not far behind.
When I was in the military the equal opportunity representatives was always the most racist guy they could find. It does not surprise me that the sex abuse official runs a prostitution ring. I guess there is some logic to it but I do not get it.
Lt. Col. Darin Haas of Fort Camobel, Kentuckyl was arrested for beating up his wife. Guess what his job is? Rape Prevention Officer for the 101st Airborne Dviision. This makes the 3rd one this week. Everyone thinks Hagel will save the day. Ex-Infantry sergeant Hagel is part of the problem and will never be part of the solution.
Martin_Brock, Drake,
You two whiners are the poster-children for why the asylum states military is a criminal enterprise where the absolute biggest pieces of human trash congregate. Instead of making excuses for this guy and the other criminals, you should be onboard with getting rid of the garbage and making the military into the institution that it was designed to be. And one the citizenry can be proud of.
At this point the entire military is nothing more than a prostitution ring. Women have no idea what they are signing up for and should be warned. There is no honor in the military anymore. http://www.theusmarinesrape.com/FaceBook.html
Prostitution is completely different from rape or domestic violence. The violence directed against prostitutes only occurs because prostitution is either illegal or disreputable. No one asks prostitutes whether they want their clients to be arrested, because no one wants to hear the answer. In the debate in the French parliament over criminalizing the purchase of sex, prostitutes were not permitted to testify. Why don't you ask the members of prostitutes' professional organizations if they want their clients arrested?
I don't want to believe that such things are happening in camps….but I think there might be a bit of truth in these allegations.
