The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower has reportedly arrived off the coast of Syria in recent days, having passed through the Suez Canal and joined a team of other ships loitering off the coast in the event President Obama orders a US invasion of Syria.
Analysts who see this as a prelude to a major new war say that it brings enough forces into the immediate area to start a war at any time, weather permitting, and speculation that a war could begin in a matter of days.
On the other hand while the deployment seems to be at least a chance for US bluster against Syria, it appears oddly timed for an actual war plan, coming just a week after the US Navy announced the Eisenhower was being returned to the US later in December for maintenance.
The US is shorter than usual on carriers in the region at the moment, with the USS Nimitz undergoing extensive and unexpected repair work. The Eisenhower was initially supposed to come back to the US in early 2013 for repair work to its flight deck, but has instead been ordered back early for less extensive repairs before a protracted deployment to cover up for the Nimitz.
It’s hard to imagine then that the US would deploy the aging Eisenhower, just weeks before it’s due back for repairs, to start a major war. The more likely explanation is that the Eisenhower was slowly making its way back to the eastern US and is just making a stop-off near Syria for show.
It is not a coincidence then, that the Russian Aircraft Carrier killer and strike fleet destroyer Moskva, flagship of the Black sea fleet, along with large landing ships, destroyers and subs stands right outside the Syrian coast and two warships at harbour in Tartus waiting for them. Not that Syria can´t take a carrier down themselves, equipped with Russian state of the art super sonic missiles….
What is " the Russian Aircraft Carrier killer " ?
Why was it not used to protect Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya?
It might have been 008 but Russia was weak and ruled by a western stooge at the time (and Libya, well, Putin frankly couldn´t dream of US being so desperately stupid as to repeat the stunt on his watch). Now with the fanatical throat slitters unleashed , if the israelis via their western slave regimes, manages to "neutralize" Syria than it´s Iran and the road is open to Russia via it´s southern vulnerable flank, which they tried in Georgia but got heavily burned. That wont happen. Fool me once…
The main weapon on Moskva is the Bazalt:
"The missiles were intended to be used in salvos; a submarine (or Moskva in this case) could launch eight in rapid succession, maintaining control of each through a separate datalink. In flight the group could co-ordinate their actions; one would fly up to 7,000 meters (23,000 feet) and use its active radar to search for targets, forwarding this data to the other missiles which remained at low altitude. The missiles were programmed so that half of a salvo would head for a carrier target, with the rest dividing between other ships. If the high flying missile was shot down another from the salvo would automatically pop up to take its place. All of the missiles would switch to active radar for the terminal phase of the attack.[3]"
The US is clearly gearing up for war with Syria. All the "back for repairs" stuff was just to justify the carrier being sent near Syria. The "chemical weapons" stuff is so much bushwah.
I TOLD everyone here and elsewhere that the US and NATO were committed to destroying Syria's missile arsenal in order to enable Israel to attack Lebanon and then for the Iran war to start.
Mere weeks after Obama was re-elected – while those drinking the Obama Kool-Aid thought he was going to "negotiate" – here we are ramping up for war with Syria – probably withing a matter of weeks now.
The Eisenhower has 44 F-18 strike aircraft. Israel has 450 F-15 and F-16 strike aircraft. If something is to be done, it won't be the Eisenhower doing it.
Then they should either speed up repairs or start building new carriers then. I doubt a powerful nation like the US would want to risk a shortage of force projectors for very long.
