Iranian MP Hossein Ebrahimi, one of the top ranking members of the nation’s National Security and Foreign Affairs Commission, today slammed calls by top US officials to begin smuggling arms into Syria.
“The presence of Iran and Russia’s flotillas along the Syrian coasts has a clear message against the United States’ possible adventurism,” Ebrahimi warned. US military commander Gen. Martin Dempsey has said any efforts to arm the rebels would be “premature.”
The US is far from the only nation liable to smuggle weapons into Syria, however, and the Arab League has already passed a resolution approving efforts to provide such aid to the various fighters seen as favorable to its faction. In addition, Turkey is openly backing the Free Syrian Army (FSA), while al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) is sending arms and fighters into the nation across the porous Iraqi border.
Iranian officials explained the arrival of two Iranian warships at Tartus, the same port that already houses Russian warships, as a sign that both nations are willing to make an effort to prevent arms smuggling. It is unlikely the ships will have much practical impact, however, as Syria has enormous land borders that are difficult to guard and would be more favorable for such smuggling.
Syria is not going to be another Libya, Syrian people are ready for peace and Syrian people ready for anything and everything to stop this new nonsense created by Hillary Clinton, Sarkozi/Markel, Swedish and Danish and English political gang of daze, they even can't clarify who these rebels are and what is it that they are fighting for. If their demand is democracy then the Syria government has provided the ground and changing the constitution where every political idea would have its say and run for parliament and etc. By bringing Al Queada into this mess is not going to help the situation and that Al Queada is not about democracy but rather is about bunch of terrorists, as in Libya, whom job is to pollute the idea with their idiocy. Having said that: those senators whom willing to send and arms these terrorist in reality admitting to the fact that they are supporting terrorism rather then democracy and therefore the USA becomes a state sponsored terrorist, so to those senators get you head out of where ever it is and look at reality and for once take the matter serious without thinking of how much you can make by supporting the idea in supporting Terrorists.
Terrorism. What in blue blazes do you call Hezbollah? And Hezbollah, aside from being the biggest, baddest terrorist organization in the world has been supplied, trained and coddled by Syria and Iran. So, the terrorism card you play to avoid supporting regime change is kind of backwards. Far better to foment rebellion in Syria, without any direct U.S. involvement, because anything that harms Assad's regime, Hezbollah, Iran and Russia is a good thing. Simply put, I don't much care what comes after Assad so long as the process weakens our enemies, which it will. A diminished Syrian state deprives the Russians and Iranians of their only Mediterranean port and Hezbollah will starve for supplies. Sweetness. To repeat, I absolutely agree that direct U.S. or NATO military involvement would be a HUGE mistake. But, we can sit back and cheer for the underdogs and look the other way when supplies and weapons are smuggled to them can't we? You betcha.
Where have you been, Mojo? Read a little more and you will know the number one terrorist state in the world. The number two is Israel.
No offense but how in the world is that a warning to the US? And a warning to what, not mess with Syria or Iran? It seems like Iran has already done what they should have done a long time ago, cut the oil supply to the West. Watch 'em all squirm now. When in doubt, hit 'em where it hurts: the pocket and the vice/addiction.
Russia is taking a stand and an appreciative Iran is standing with them. Something the leech Israel never does for the US.
