It’s a story almost as old as the war itself. When the NATO-backed NTC was in the process of occupying Tripoli, they left a number of massive weapons warehouses in the Libyan capital entirely unguarded, and the arsenal was quickly carried out the front door by looters.
Many types of weapons went missing. The Tuareg mercenaries showed up in northern Mali sporting shiny new assault rifles for their insurgency. For the US, however, the focus has been on the SA-24 shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles.
The SA-24s are portable and designed to target aircraft. This has made them a much desired commodity for the various militant groups in the region. Experts say that Libya had enough of these weapons to turn the northern half of Africa into one big no-fly zone.
The US scrambled, getting officials on the ground to try to find the weapons. But the short answer is they never did find them, and claims that it was “mostly secured” appear not to have been true.
And while the US will probably keep looking just for lack of anything better to do, State Department officials are now conceding that they “probably never will” know how many missiles went missing or where they ended up. At least until those weapons start being used against aircraft in the area.
Hell they can not find the Libyans peoples money in the hand of US, they can not find the Iraqi money in the hand of US and you expect them to find missiles in Libya.., they even don’t know who the >>>>>> in charge there….? get real Jason.
Sooner or later they will show up somewhere in the ME. Perhaps it will be in the form of downed NATO helicopters and planes, but they will show up.
Perhaps those SA-24s should be mass produced in China and distributed to all countries in the ME and N. Africa, greatly reducing the chances of foreign interventions.
HHHMMMMMmmmmm,….. One more correction of sorts…………. "start being used against aircraft in the area." [In the Area…???] Why not in Syria, France, Afghanistan , N. Korea or California, places much more likely for them to re-surface….??? Who's got them….?? Is it Al Quaeda who seems to be the U.S./NATO sweetheart once again…?? If those missiles are out of the box of U.S./NATO supervision, then our projections of their re-appearances should be too. Using them in N.Africa would only cause problems for their new owners ..[Where they live..!!] Much more plausible deniability in Syria, Indonesia or Kabul.. And also the farther away they do turn up, the larger and more abstruse the area which would be examined, lessening the chances that the providers would be found……. I believe farther away is more likely than nearer………….. Do the same people with the SA-24s also have Kadaffi's gold too..?? Or is this all the CIA adding fear and uncertainty into the equation to assist their funding..??
They are in Syria, along with the "specialists' in regime change, including highly experienced Libyan fighers, murderers, sodomizers and rapers. Who would know these skills would be in demand?
Gotta hate those cakewalks when the looters show up before the vic'try parade.
Maybe, one good day they'll wake up and find them up their ass.
They did the same thing in Iraq. I have a feeling that this may not be a mistake or gross negligence but deliberate. I mean how stupid could they be? These so called lost missiles may show up at the next false flag event, Syria or Iran anyone?
