NATO warplanes attacked the village in the Zhari District of Kandahar today, killing at least seven civilians, including six children, and injuring two other children. The attack came after a gunbattle outside the village between NATO and Taliban forces.
NATO officials termed the killings “unfortunate” and said they came “in response to insurgent action.” They have promised to launch an inquiry into why the children were bombed.
Reports say that after the gunbattle some of the Taliban were fleeing on the road which goes through the village. NATO bombed the road, and children who were playing alongside it were slain. Most of the insurgents appear to have gotten away, though some unconfirmed reports say one of the bombs hit and killed two of them.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the attack, saying that he was launching his own investigation into the matter. Last week’s Loya Jirga, which was supposed to affirm a continued US occupation of Afghanistan through 2024, had expressed serious concern about civilian casualties, and predicated their acceptance on NATO curbing the killings.
…"termed the killings “unfortunate” – yes, unfortunate. Unfortunate is such an elegant word – imparting just a smidgen of pathos. But how much sympathy or remorse can a Spokesperson (or the empire they speak for) have when they are so removed from the actual impact of loss. And they (NATO and the Archons) wonder why "insurgents" and "radicals" just seem to keep appearing – the empire never seeming to get any closer to "winning" than they were a year ago. Never ending war. Unfortunate.
Well we weren't able to give you a government in a box… but at least now you can have your children in a box
Government in a box? What about the 'news in a box'? You won't see or hear this story in the American media. It's stowed away in a little box on page 17.
This Vietnam era "we had to destroy the village in order to save it" mentality pervades NATO. Using air power to deal with an insurgency is the same as using a B1 bomber to deal with Crips and Bloods in South Central Los Angeles with much the same lack of results other than murdering the innocent. Each of these dead Afghan children was as important and deserving of his or her life as Obama's daughters. It's too bad no one understands this.
NATO's armada against a number of Afghans armed with Lee-Enfields and AK-47s, is there something wrong with this picture? The killing of children whether or not inadvertantly, is the supreme crime. Afghanistan had no role in 9/11. Everyone knows that war plans were formulated and finalized months prior to 9/11 to invade Afghanistan. Everyone now knows too that the Taliban attempted to hand over Osama numerous times, but was rebuffed by the Bush administartion bent on war. This war was predicated on failing negotiations for the Trans-Afghan-Pipeline between the Bushies and the Taliban.
The so-called "War on Terror" is a ruse…a hunting license for the new empire.
Only our cavalier attitude towards life can term the unbridled slaughter carried out daily as "unfortunate" …
Unfortunate? No motherf#cker, your mom getting raped by paramilitaries is unfortunate. Your face getting smashed in by a 9 year old assassin's bullet is unfortunate. Eating out of the trash is unfortunate. Your 8 year old working 12-16 hours to make a quarter a day is unfortunate.
This shit is 100% First Degree Mass Murder. Costumes don't mean sh!t.
"The whole world does not worth one tear of a child", – Dostoyevsky. How about the lives of six innocent children?!
And you know what is scary?! Yesterday, at the Thanksgiving dinner, one guest, well traveled and educated, said, "There is only one solution for the Middle-East crisis – the parking lot". He elaborated further, saying that the entire Middle East should be made into a huge parking lot. Stupidly I asked, " How about the people?" He answered,"That's the idea. Roll over them all…" I guess he wanted a parking lot for all big oil machinery over there… It seems he is not alone in this sentiment… Needless to say, my appetite was gone..
That's a common wish among the good Christuns. They all want to see the ME turned into a parking lot.
Israel included? Be very expensive to go round 😉
Surely they couldn't have been children. The US…errrr…NATO doesn't do that. They were militants, insurgents, future terrorists under the age of 6 but not children.
