The United Nations has announced a revision of their Syrian crackdown death toll, adding an extra 200 to their figure and saying 2,900 are now believed dead. The revision comes after weeks of additional killings.
Syria’s state media rejected the claims, saying that the claims of widespread killings were “media fabrications” orchestrated in the West and aimed at discrediting the Assad regime.
Though such railing is par for the course for the state media, an interesting piece of evidence emerged today when Zainab al-Hosni, the pro-democracy activist reported “beheaded” in custody, showed up on TV, with her head intact.
Reports of violence continued to pour in from opposition leaders, with at least 16 people reported slain over the course of Wednesday. The massive civilian toll has led to a vigorous debate in the UN Security Council about a resolution critical of Syria, though the most recent one failed after Russia and China objected to threats of sanctions against Assad.
Why don't I believe this? Could it be because the UN is a tool of the neo-libs who are gagging to attack Syria. BTW, perhaps the hypocritical scum demanding action against Syria should first take action against NATO and the USA to prevent further innocent civilian casualties in Afghanistan. Oops, that's why they're hypocrites!
Thats not even a quarter of the Civilians killed in Libya by the UN and its proxy NATO
Mainstream media, being corporate owned or financed, always stresses our emotional guts with the effects of the problem, and rarely if ever addresses the root cause or solution. For the goal is to burn up our emotional capital so that we back away from what appears to be an impossible situation and allow the corporate rich to do as they please.
So hang in there, bleeding gutsy emotions and all, hang in there.
Assad on one side, NATO/US on the other and the poor Syrian civilians smack dab in the middle. Not good. Not good at all.
The real question is why a site called "antiwar.com" continues to broadcast the same lies from the same people who brought us Iraq and Afghanistan and Libya. Not even a molecule of skepticism from "antiwar" website?
