Egypt’s interim military junta today lodged a formal protest with the Israeli government demanding an explanation and an “urgent investigation” into the killing of three security forces, including an army officer, along the border between the two nations.
The three were killed when Israeli soldiers were chasing “suspects” they believed to have been involved in the terrorist attacks in southern Israel. The raid got close to the Egyptian border, and gunfire killed the three troops and wounded seven others.
The killings spawned demonstrations outside of the Israeli embassy in Cairo, and the nation’s presidential candidates issued angry condemnations of the attacks, and demanded “strong reaction” to the killings.
Israeli officials downplayed the seriousness of the incident, saying it did not believe ties with Egypt would be effected. The military said “preliminary investigations” into the killing were under way.
Israel believes that they can kill members of other countries in internaitonl waters or on their own soil and not interfer with inter-governmental relations. What a buch or arrogant bastards. The Egyptians should rip up their so-called truce with Israel and strongly defend their lands. When the new government is formed this fall, hopefully Egypt will take strong measures to been seen as equal partners in the area.
Egypt just recalled their ambassador from Tel Aviv. Also, the Tahrir Square kids have announced that they are ready to march into Israel and fight them there if needed. Israel has finally got what it's been looking for, for a long, long time. May they not emerge from what they have created. It is time to put an ended to that ill-fated fated in Western guilty.
Jason Ditz,
Yesterday you labeled the incident an "attack".
Today, you tacked on the label "terrorist attack".
What made you change your mind?
Are you trying to make a point that attacks on soldiers are "terrorist attacks"?
So, if THEY do it, it's a "terrorist attack". If WE do it, then it's "collateral damage".
Get ready for US Congressmen to line up and defend the israelis.
When even ONE of the Israeli military forces are killed, it's a BIG DEAL. But 3 Egyptians, bah!! What's the kerfuffle? They're only Egyptians.
And besides, there has been no proof that the Palestinians were the perpetrators of the Sinai killings – and a couple of reports that they were not!! Yet Bibi vows a massive campaign of "revenge" on the Gazans. Makes one wonder who really was responsible – just before the Palestinians go before the UN to beg for recognition.
It wouldn't be the first time the Israelis had been involved with a false flag incident to set the stage for other, larger events. Just sayin'…
Perhaps one day the entire world will wake up and realize that Israel is a curse on the entire world – a nation of war criminals murdering innocents.
All done with the support of the US.
