After spending last week and much of this weekend comparatively silent about the uprisings in neighboring Egypt, Israeli officials and pundits are suddenly sounding off on the growing rebellion and lashing out at President Obama for his somewhat incomplete backing of Mubarak.
The comments are likely to be viewed quite negatively amongst protesters, who were already more than a little irked at US officials saying they wouldn’t support the complete ouster of Mubarak but only some minor reforms and citing Israel as the excuse.
Indeed, despite the Obama Administration’s insistence that they aren’t “taking sides” most are viewing them as propping up the Mubarak government, and not the other way around, a position strongly indicated by the $1.5 billion the US sends him annually.
But now, in the wake of a bloody crackdown on protesters, Israeli officials the world over are demanding that the US and others “curb” their criticism of Mubarak, and telling their ambassadors to warn the world that Israel not only supports Mubarak’s regime unquestioningly, but believes that allowing free elections in the nation could have “very serious implications” on other dictators in the region.
He just doesn't want to lose a bought and paid for U.S. stooge.
Yes, democracy in the Middle East is a direct threat to Israel. Not just that some elements of Islamic fundamentalism could finally get some say but that the whole myth of the USA supporting Israel with bribe money to Egypt and Jordan cannot work forever. I think the Arab world should organize their militaries around Israel and start to remove them from the occupied territories while guaranteeing the 1967 borders as Israel sovereign integrety. That's what the UN has been trying to do for over 40 years with no result due to the American complicity with its Israeli ally. If Israel doen't move quickly and reject their occupation of Palestinian lands, they may lose the whole kit and kaboodal.
It is amazing how no one hears anything about J. Pollard. Not a peep about the f35 give to stop settlements. I guess it is better to kick obama than accept the fact that for 60 years they have been terrible toward the arabs. They consider them cockroaches. NOw things appear to be heading against them and very quickly they are looking for friends. Hello Israel you attacked Egypt in 1955 and you tried to steal the canal. YOu attacked in 1967 and stole large land areas. In 2008 you attacked Gaza in a disgraceful slaughter. You are not going to paint a happy face and have the arabs think you are nice people. Get use to the new government after all your operation clean break called for regime change. YOur wish apparently has been granted. A classic case of be careful what you wish for.
Of course Israel is going to want to keep Mubarak in power- he's one of the last friends Israel has in the Middle East. I can just imagine the janitors at the Knesset having to put crates of toilet paper in the bathrooms for all the Israeli politicians continually soiling themselves when Egypt's people finally said 'ENOUGH' and are actually doing something about it. Could it happen in Israel as well, with the Israeli man on the street being tired of his government shaming his nation before the world? You bet it could, and you can bet the Israeli government is already making contingency plans for just that possibility. If Israel is so gung-ho pro-Mubarak, why don't they offer to send troops in to help the police forces, since the Egyptian Army is pro-civilian? Bad idea? THEN SHUT UP, ISRAEL, IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING YOURSELVES (as usual).
If Shimon Peres wants to bleat on that it's not fair ,Why did he wait 6 days to make a comment then? Because he was waiting for his " mouthpiece" Obama to deal with it
For Mubarak:
"Tell me your friends and I will tell you who you are"
When your friends include Zionists, the US and Saudi Arabia, you must be a traitor.
BTW, I hazard to guess that Devil is also rooting for Mubarak.
May Mu Barak could ask Israel for political asylum??
W9
Shame on Baruch Obama for not parroting shitmon peres' lines, heck, shame on him for not anticipating what israel wants ahead of time and supporting a dictator.
With a newly Independent and millitarily potent Egypt on their Southern border , Iran just over the horizon approaching nuclear "break out" capability (even if they don't intend on weaponizing their fissile material) and those bad ass Hizbullah boys on their Northern flank, I say those tough Polish boys better stock up on the toilet paper because it is about to get shitty.
Mubarak is a dictator. Why should Obama support him? Just because Israel says so???? Obama should be for democracy for the people!
Sorry Lolraine, I am tired of all this bullshit. If Obama was for democracy why did he as well as many other american presidents support that piece of shit all this time? Why did thery decide to act now?
Because the Egyptians will change the equation in the area and there is nothing the good old USA can do about it, It is all damage control as of now.
Tnhew Israelis on the other hand are still in denial (and it aint no river in Egypt) as there very core will be shaken soon, The game rules have drastically changed and the only options they have to to seek real peace.

More of the same. Self-pitying, arrogant fools. You truly reap what you sow.
Peres gives kiss of death to Mubarak
Sucks when the Mossad can't control everything.
Military wouldn't do it.
This is flat-out shameful.
Mubarak being a 'good neighbor' to Israel (whatever that means) isn't worth beans if he isn't even a good leader to his PEOPLE. A guy who is great at work to everyone but when he gets home beats his wife and kids is NOT a leader deserving of respect.
This is wishful thinking of Israelis as they need as a killer Hussnie Mubarek in Egypt but i can have similar wishful thinking for Israelis who are best killers in the history of mankind of Palestinians and Hussnie was supporting these actions.
We must see forward if the human beings have to live like Egyptians is better to die.
There is impossible to retain Hussnie Mubarek as a looter and his son owes some 56 billion dollaras in the west and egyptian are dying of hunger.
Usually Egyptians are very simple people and happy in their life what they have and is their character but now no more.
America will have to pay a heavy price to support dictators in support of Israelis in the middle east.
America have to change their mind set and Obama is caught between american and Israelis interest but american interest should be promary as he is president of america not israel.
Regime change?
Yes, but if didn't bomb beforehand, it doesn't count!
History hurts. The game plan has changed. The real enemy of despots and totalatarian regimes are not the demonized but the disenfranchised.
Israel now has to spend US Taxpayer money to put troops on the Egyptian border and will probably be forced to negotiate with Syria in the near future. It's not just cheap oil that keeps western governments supporting brutal dictators. The billions a year go to supressing their own people AND keeping Israel happy.
Bottom line is: If Israel doesn't like it, it's probably a good thing.
One would think that the Israelis would know that their effusive praise of Mubarak is the end of him. Makes you wonder if they do not want to hasten his departure?!
Messiah aka Assassin i n Chief owes Israel big as Israeli lobby was one to get media to line up and promote him to where he is today.
Remember the USS Liberty – intentionally bombed and strafed by Israel!
Israeli accusations of betrayal? Pot…Kettle….Black.
Israel was built on stolen land.
Israel is fascist and racist.
Israel knows only the law of brute force when it is wielding it.,
Israel is mainly a land of savages and criminals.
The rest is sheer bla-bla-bla.
Delenda est Israel.
showing great respect while standing next to each other in the handout line like junkies in line at the sally anne
Amazing isn't it- on CNN and other MSM all they can talk about is : how to get American citizens out of 'the chaos' and how will this affect Israel ? Nothing about the triumphant accomplishment of this spontaneous but long overdue revolution. If you can read between the lines and it doesn't take much to do that, the hidden question is : How can we subvert and/or suppress the democratic rights of 85 million Egyptians in order to calm the paranoia of 5 million Israelis ? You can bet that behind the scenes, American 'diplomats' and 'advisors' with their CIA plots in their back pockets are coming to 'lend a hand to our trusted ally, Mubarak. Obama and Clinton are talking 'avoid violence' while they are in fact arranging for bombings and assassinations all around, something to pin on the Muslim Brotherhood and set off hysteria and warmongering among the American people.
A 'wind of change' blowing through the Arab world, if not through the whole of the world and puppet, quisling dictatorships, client states of the US are tumbling one after the other like dominoes. Unrest already has been reported in Jordan and Yemen as well and Libanon's Hezbolah is strengthening its grip on the country. It had to happen sometime and it might take years for these countires to recuperate. It will certainly not be peace and pie in the sky for a long time, but as long as the US/Israel's one sided balance of power in the region has shifted, there might eventually be progress. However there are still grave dangers lurking. Israel supported by the US will not take these changes lying down. Israel is known to provoke border incidents, skirmishes and worse war. I am sure they will not accept the Gaza blockade to be broken, which could well be on the cards with a new Egyptian regime and they will fight tooth and nail to keep the Gazans imprisoned.
