Israeli Drone Strike Targets Car in South Syria, Injuring One

Israeli tanks advance deeper into Quneitra Governorate

Israel continues to carry out its offensive against southern Syria, with a drone strike Sunday targeting a person they claimed to be a member of Hamas. The person still has not been publicly identified and Hamas has not commented.

The strike targeted a car near a farm in Beit Jinn, injuring the driver according to the most reports. Israeli media claims that the person was a “Hamas terrorist” and that he was killed in the attack, though all indications are that whoever he was, he’s alive and was taken to the hospital.

Further south, reports were that Israeli tanks advanced deeper into Quneitra Governorate over the weekend, opening fire near the village of Jaba. It’s not clear what was being targeted, though the reports noted that the tanks ultimately returned back into the occupied Golan Heights.

Israeli military vehicles also moved into the Al-Shahar forest Saturday, also in Quneitra. They leveled a substantial number of trees while they were there, including fruit-bearing pine trees and some oaks that were an estimated 30 years old.

Israeli vehicles also entered the town of al-Rufeed, though they reportedly only stayed for about an hour and there is no report of them actually doing anything while there.

Israel invaded southwest Syria in December, immediately following the ouster of the Assad government. Since then, they have continued to operate against the area, most carrying out raids against the towns and villages and seizing documents.
