Saja Moussa Sharara was married on Tuesday and lived in a house in the village of Arabsalim, a Shi’ite majority village in the southern part of Lebanon’s Nabatieh District. Thursday morning she was killed when an Israeli airstrike attacked her home.
Sharara was killed instantly in the strike, and several other people in the house were wounded. Israel launched at least one additional site in Arabsalim and wounded multiple other civilians. The Lebanese Health Ministry put the number wounded at six, but it’s unclear if that number was final or just preliminary. Multiple other strikes were reported in Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Kfar Roumine, with a number of artillery strikes targeting the surrounding area.
The escalation of strikes was presented by Israeli media as retaliation for a pair of overnight drone attacks by Hezbollah against Israeli occupation forces in the area near Ali al-Taher Ridge, further north in Nabatieh District. Israeli troops shot down one of the drones, and the other flew away without incidents, there were no casualties.

The IDF, for its part, didn’t specifically mention Sharara, or any of the other civilian casualties in their attacks, but rather claimed they’d been carrying out strikes against “Hezbollah infrastructure,” which is the catch-all justification for whenever they’re attacking civilian targets.
Israel is actively invading Ali al-Taher Ridge, with an eye toward taking over that area, which overlooks the northern part of Nabatieh District. They claim there is a substantial Hezbollah presence in the area, though exactly where remains uncertain, and the IDF often relies on allegations of secret underground facilities therein.
Elsewhere in southern Lebanon, Israeli tanks advanced into Marjayoun District town of Mays al-Jabal, destroying agricultural sites and setting fire to homes. Troops also launched heavy fire against the nearby town of Hadatha.
