Yesterday’s promise by President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali that he would not run for reelection in 2014 did little to calm the growing popular protests across Tunisia, and with anger of the crumbling economy and increasingly draconian censorship regime rising, Ben Ali fled the nation today, likely putting an end to his 23 year reign.
Shortly after, Prime Minister Ghannouchi declared himself the “interim president” of the nation, and vowed to “respect the constitution” going forward. Before he left, however, Ben Ali declared a State of Emergency, and state media is still warning Tunisians that it is illegal for more than three of them to meet at any given time, and that anyone caught violating the ban will be shot. Ghannouchi gave no indication of whether this would be changed any time soon.
Unrest has been growing in Tunisia since last month. Initially beginning with a young graduate protesting after police shut down the produce stand he opened out of desperation after he couldn’t find a job. The protest caught on amongst the nation’s unemployed, though reports were heavily censored. Finally the government announced the large-scale censorship of the Internet in response to the story getting out to the international community.
As the protests grew, more and more restrictions have been added, to the point where officials orders to police now are to beat or shoot virtually anyone they see. Needless to say, the orders were impractical and the nation is now completely out of the government’s control, with the ever more desperate demands being ignored by protesters, rioters and looters.
*********************** Attention,,, Hosni Mubarak……… Be cautious…………… Very cautious…..
The spin will be that Democracy breaks out because of the "pressure on oppressive despots like Saddam Hussein, Ahmadinejad and the Taliban." The neocons will pretend that they caused this. Especially if protests now spread from Tunisia to Algeria, Morocco, Libya or Egypt.
The truth is that all these states except Libya are pro-Washington and run in accordance with the Israeli lobby's wishes. A few hints:
–Egypt receives more U.S. foreign aid than any other country – except Israel of course. This rich Arab state gets the money in order to work in concert with Israel on oppressing the Palestinians, by for example keeping the border closed in order to starve the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian de facto dictator Hosni Mubarak oppresses the anti-Israeli Islamic Brotherhood, making it impossible for them to win elections.
–Algeria turned into a pro-Washington dictatorship through a coup in 1992. This received neocon backing. The year before that, the highly popular Islamic Salvation Front had won the democratic elections fair and square. But democracy is only allowed when a pro-Israeli, globalist-funded party wins.
–Morocco has been pro-Washington and pro-Israel since the French colonials withdrew, leaving behind the Moroccan king as a puppet. He even has a top advisor who is Jewish, André Azoulay, currently the head of the "Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures", one of those countless globalist organizations that funnel money and control the public debate. The Moroccan king oppresses dissent in many ways, forcing dissenters to leave the country. (Your career is ruined, for example.)
The neocons fear real democracy in Maghreb, Arab northern Africa, because they rely on pro-Israeli dictators and de facto dictators to control the Middle East from Morocco to Pakistan. The countries that object are starved financially or bombed and invaded. (Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan.)
If I'm not mistaken, even Libya is on good terms with Washington these days. Some years ago, Gaddafi realized that a rapprochement with the western powers was more profitable.
You're one step ahead of them, eh?
Coincidentally, you should have seen the spread on Yahoo today. A couple of pages describing the violence, the looting, the chaos. They're making sure the sheeple know that they can't do the same here or else, lookie, this is what will happen to you. No more Bud Light, no more Dancing With The Stars. No more shopping at Wal Mart.
I read at The Guardian that President El Sock Puppet was waiting for somebody (anybody) to grant him asylum. I guess his good friends in Washington turned their backs on him. Another lesson learned, I guess. If you sleep with a dog, you'll wake up covered in fleas. And that's a fact!
Nothing has been said of the elite leeches that robed and pillaged the economy and enslaved the masses but something tells me they're all safely in their gated communities in Greenwich, CT or California and where else they set their roots.
Wait a minute. If we look at the next article on Antiwar, here, it is apparent from the Wikileaks cable referenced that this bozo president and his family are too stupid to be stooges even for Washington. For goodness sake, the president’s nephews stole the yacht of Bruno Roger, the chairman of Lazard Freres, one of the prime directors of the world fiat money system.
“Tunisian business people joke that the most important relationship you can have is with your banker, reflecting the importance of personal connections rather than a solid business plan in securing financing.”, says the article. And apparently 2 years later the president’s nephews still hadn’t been properly dealt with over this theft.
Well, it looks to me as if they should have been more careful with their relationship to the bankers’ foreign bosses too. If the ruling elite were dumb enough to be this careless, perhaps they were dumb enough to think that the currency system was set up for their own benefit only, and they needed to be taught an economic lesson. I am sure the new boss will have a better attitude.
