Israel said Wednesday that eight of its soldiers have been killed fighting Hezbollah on the ground in south Lebanon as the Israeli invasion is underway.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the troops were killed in a gun battle with Hezbollah in a village in southern Lebanon. The Israeli soldiers were commandos in the elite Egoz Unit, and their squad commander was among those killed.
According to Reuters, the Israeli military said that regular troops and armored divisions would be joining the commandos in the fight in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah also said that its forces destroyed three Israeli tanks near Maroun El Ras, a Lebanese town just one kilometer from the Israeli border.
Later in the day, Al Jazeera reported that Hezbollah said its forces surveilled an Israel unit in Kfar Kila, another border town, and detonated explosives in a building where the Israeli troops were located. Hezbollah claimed all members of the Israeli unit were killed but didn’t specify how many.
Hezbollah has also said its forces were able to repel Israeli troops from advancing in other areas of southern Lebanon. The Israeli casualties show that Hezbollah is putting up stiff resistance against the invading force despite the massive Israeli airstrikes that have been hitting Lebanon for more than a week.
The US backed Israel’s decision to invade southern Lebanon, insisting it would be a “limited” operation aimed at removing Hezbollah positions from near the border. Publicly, the US has called for a ceasefire in Lebanon, but a report from POLITICO revealed White House officials were privately encouraging Israel to escalate its attacks on the country.
The IDF is performing as poorly as it did in 2006. In my recent Substack articles, I quoted Alastair Crooke and Mark Perry's analysis of the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah conflict which established that the IDF got its head handed to it. The situation clearly has not changed.
Israel's 'elite force' takes heavy losses in zero distance clashes with Hezbollah
At least two Israeli soldiers were killed and 20 injured during an attempt to infiltrate Lebanese territory via the town of Odaisseh

Their strategy this time around is to capture high ground points in southern Lebanon near border to oversee their progress and identify Hezbollah firing locations…! And that has obviously failed miserably…!
The death of Nasrallah will increase the resolve of the Hezbollah fighters.
Feet Off South Lebanon….! The trap is working…! 35 others wounded…!

Mouse Trap…!

Keep in mind that the Israeli government lies even worse than the Kremlin. Remember the "40 beheaded babies" that never existed?

By nightfall the Lebanese claimed 80 IDF fighters KIA/WIA plus 5 Merkavas
IDF finding out facing battle hardened Hezbollah fighters is not like facing civilians
"This was easier when they were unarmed, in tents, and tweens and elderly."
Turns out the Zionists are weak against bullets! You just need to shoot them and they die!
As things move along, there will be more.
"The Israeli soldiers were commandos in the elite Egoz Unit, and their squad commander was among those killed." …What? …I'm just admiring the grammar and sentence structure. Nice job, Dave!

Let's pay real close attention to these two statements.
1. Elite commando unit & their leader killed by Hezbollese regulars.
2. IDF next to send in regular non-elite soldiers, and reservist 'weekend warriors'.
If a squad of your SEALs / SAS / Rangers / Spartans / Mandalorians / Gurkhas got f**king mopped before you even reached Hezbollinian strongholds, everyone to follow is dead in their footsteps.
Very good point, US … they may just revise to bombing from afar … killing civilians is so much safer.
It’s easier, and safer, but there’s only so much that can be accomplished by bombing (Desert Storm, against Iraq) before a full on invasion (Iraqi Freedom, ha-ha) and occupation (2004-2024’s Operation We Think We’ll Stay, Thanks, Iraqi Parliament) is required to dislodge hardened elements.
Two more IDF soldiers killed today…! Six wounded…!
