The head of the Ukrainian parliament’s financial committee said Tuesday that Ukraine needs $5 billion in external financial assistance or it will be facing sharp budget cuts.
“We have to borrow $5 billion monthly. If we do not get it, we will have to cut spending,” Danylo Hetmantsev said, according to Reuters.
Hetmantsev said the Ukrainian government’s revenues cover less than half of its expenses due to the war. He said the government spent about 250 billion hryvnias ($8.46 billion) in May to finance the military and help people displaced by the fighting but only collected 101 billion hryvnias ($3.42 billion) in taxes.
The US and the EU have provided Ukraine with financial assistance through direct aid and loans, but it is far below the $5 billion each month that Hetmantsev said Kyiv needs. According to Ukraine’s Finance Ministry, the country received $5.12 billion in financial assistance from foreign countries between January and May.
So far, the US has authorized $54 billion in spending for Ukraine that is meant to last through the 2022 fiscal year, which ends on September 30 for the federal government. The majority will go towards military spending, but the $40 billion bill recently signed into law by President Biden includes $8.8 billion in economic support for Ukraine and other countries impacted by the war.
So citizens of America and Europe should suffer inflation and pending financial ruin so the Ukraine doesn’t have to cut their budget?
Just die and go away Ukraine!
Sugar daddy Joe will help them.
Amerikkkan seniors, jobless, homeless, diseased, etc. need $5 billion in assistance.
Give it to the seniors. They are a priority.
Ukraine says “borrow” but what Zelensky really means is “give”, as Ukraine will NEVER be able to pay any of this “aid” back. So NATO and the US should risk bankrupting themselves in order to support this preening little peacock so that he can continue his war – a war which he has ZERO chance of winning – rather than negotiate. This is absurd. Russia’s pre-war demands were NOT particularly harsh; they simply demanded acceptance of the status quo; that Crimea and Donbas were separate, and that Ukraine renounce its intention to join NATO and remain neutral. NOW, after all the death and destruction, Ukraine will lose not only Crimea and the two separatist enclaves, but the entire Donbas, and Kherson, and Zaporizhe. And, if the war continues, they will lose more than that. Wake Up People.
There was only one country which paid its WW1 debts to us in full. Finland. The following did not pay in full or nothing: Germany, GB, France, Russia-Soviet Union, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, and some more.
If my memory is correct, all WW2 debts to us were swept under the rug of the Bretton Woods conference of 1944 before the war was even over.
Today we are big debtors. To China.
Ukraine Says It Needs $5 Billion in Monthly External Aid
hey maybe they can take it from the US food-stamp program.
how about public schools – even better.
or simply add it on at the gas-pumps.
just as long as ukraine gets it, right?
we would never even notice.
Yes, they’re not supposed to be saying this aloud. The Pentagon works hard to keep “kinetic” expense off-budget, audit-proof, and out of the news.
Classic.
I wonder how much the Yemeni people need monthly and have they asked us to pay and help support them against their invaders yet?
I was thinking similar thoughts when I saw the commercials on TV asking people to help those who are being displaced in Ukraine.
Exactly … “could you please help the poor people of Yemen displaced by our own brave military’s bombs?”
Wars do that. During WW2 the UK almost became bankrupt and was only saved by big injections of dollars from Washington.
Let there be no doubt that $5 billion is only an opening bid. Once we provide it, the number will go up.
I would not be surprised if the true figure were higher, even many times higher.
If we consider rebuilding, it would be vastly higher.
Israel is sure jealous now…!
Ukraine’s military is in open collapse, Russia’s going to take all the territory it wants, then force Ukraine to make peace in Russia’s terms. Then Ukraine will lose all its sponsors in the West, its government will go bankrupt, and it’ll fall into civil war with militias fighting over the scraps.
My napkin calculations may be wrong. But I think Ukraine is asking for about 50% more than they spent in 2020. That’s in addition to the revenue they can still generate internally.
So the American taxpayer is being asked to directly finance Ukrainian politicians foreign bank accounts. Because most of that money is being stolen, just like the billions in cash sent to Iraq after 2003 were stolen. Is the US going to start shipping container loads of cash to Ukraine? How big is the kick-back to Hunter and Joe Biden? That’s what this is all about.
Why are you so worried? Aren’t you a cyber warrior russian hacker? Just start redirecting the funds into your bank account or russian troll organization. Should be an easy thing to do for russian hackers.
Another foreign disaster for the U.S. and the West. Russia will prevail and the U.S. can add another failure to their long list of foreign entanglements, however the U.S. Offense Industry is loving life right now.
Xi Jinping signed a legal framework as to how China’s military forces will operate in a war, a special military operation. Then, Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation today.
It sure looks like the two leaders are expecting more Special Military Operations, or military/technical work.
Always good to check in To see the Anti US, Anti Ukraine, and Pro Putin lovers.

Will NATO directly attack Russia, its a defensive alliance after all, so its almost guaranteed it will.
