One of the American B-1B bombers recently deployed to Diego Garcia has circumnavigated the Arabian Peninsula, in something that the US is calling a “presence patrol.”
Mostly this was about a show of sending a bomber toward Iran. Allies participated, as Israel, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia all sent warplanes to participate in the operation, escorting the bomber at different points.
The flight started at Diego Garcia, went to Yemen and up the Red Sea, cut across Israel and Jordan, and then back around the Persian Gulf and down to Diego Garcia again.
Diego Garcia is a remote island in the Indian Ocean. The British expelled the inhabitants to make room for the US to use it as a base. The US has continued to expand the base in recent years, mostly targeting Iran.
This must be plan B-1B.
AKA: “Plan A”, or rather the only plan.
But we have to go through the motions of pretending to be interested in peace.
Bullying. Pure bullying. The U.S. is 6 times larger than Iran, has more military hardware by orders of magnitude, and has many nuclear weapons. We are also really great at nation-building. Ask the Afghans.
Waste of fuel, time and tax payer’s money… btw- Diego Garcia is within Iran’s missiles’ range…!
So that’s what China has been doing flying over their own waters, just one of those “presence patrols”. Strange how when any other nation (we don’t like) makes those freedom of navigation patrols (in the air or sea), it is always labeled as “ratcheting up the tensions”, but when we do it, it is so ennobling peaceful.
Isn’t “presence patrols” quaint though? Like “neighborhood watch” or some sort. I feel so safe now.
All with that “AVF” yet too. lol
If it accidentally got shot down over Syria or Iraq, would that constitute a “Pearl Harbor” moment for US to unleash devastating reprisals?
