The Iranian government is today expressing anger at the lack of international reaction to the Obama Administration’s nuclear policy platform, which included a threat to launch a nuclear attack against Iran.
“It is regrettable that official international bodies remained silent on the implicit
and unwise threat of US President Barack Obama,” noted the head of Iran’s judiciary, Ayatollah Larijani.
Indeed other than a comment by a former Austrian Ambassador calling the threat a violation of international law, officials have roundly praised the administration for nominally taking the nuclear first strike option off the table for most of the world.
Earlier this month Iran filed a formal complaint with the United Nations over the threats, including repeated claims by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates that “all bets are off” with respect to a nuclear first strike on Iran. It is unclear when the UN will take up the issue, or if they will at all.
What craven cowards.
Iran for being upset at being threatened with an attack or possible unprovoked nuclear bombing?(likely killing tens of thousands or more just from the radiation, not including the initial blast)
Or Israel, for fearing an Iranian attack, although Iran is, from what we know, not near having nuclear weapons and have not threatened any such attack?
Or the United States for bullying and intimidating small nations that pose no threat to its security? =)
What craven cowards.
I believe I need to clarify… it was late in the evening when I posted and if you search on my past comments on similar subjects you'd KNOW where I stand. No, the cowards are the ones pointing their swords at Iran and not the Iranians for seeking to defend themselves, should that ever be the case. Next time I'll hopefully do better when I post.

what happened to "speak softly"..we are so big and bad we have to threaten with nukes..this is scooyard bully b.s…… i am almost happy to see us circling the drain when we resort to this cheap tacic
The NPT is a "gentlemens" club in the best British sense.. And like the mossback outfit it is, it does Not follow it's OWN rules.. And after all, why should it …….. There is no pretense for the well informed, those who understand "leadership", the imperial imperative and good ole power politics… Keep the WOGS down.. Keep the elite "people" and nations in charge with their nuclear VETO.. UN veto too.. It's the new colonialism of the white man's burden variety… I know, I know, there is Pakistan… Yes there is and North Korea too… There to reinforce the G-dly correctness of the current system of nuclear terror as propounded by the current monopoly, the gang of five… It is there to keep the strong strong and the weak weak… The very invention of the bomb changed the history of warfare as much as the gun.. Then Dynamite, a short lived advantage… Someday, and probably someday sooner than later, there will be some new breakthrough with similar altering results… It may be here now, though probably not… Another way to ignite deuterium chain…… There are rumors…. "Red Mercury"….hints…… and dead ends… The more terror the gang of five unleash on their hapless victims the sooner the day will come when aggression by state actors will be obsolete..and preserving their hold on power will return home…..where, if it belongs anywhere, it is at home..
A man of discernment who rises above the mythologies of left and right, east and west. Sadly, you are trapped in a world of bitter disappointment, as there are too few with your level of awareness to stop the age old, repeatedly traveled road to tragedy.
Whoops! Bad composition. Should have read:
"…to stop the headlong rush down the age old, repeatedly traveled road to tragedy."
Actually, the subtilty of the Iranians has gone generally unnoticed. It is a keystone of their strategy NOT to have nuclear weapons.
What good would they do Iran? Obliterate a few cities?
They cannot and do not want to compete in that area but they do want and will have nuclear power.
Strategically and tactically it is enough that their enemies, the US and Israel, have quite of few of them within easy reach in the area.
Were rationality the guiding factor in either US or Israeli policy, this would be an unequaled opportunity to take the Iranians up on their offer of moving toward a nuclear weapons free Near East.
Unfortunately, neither the Israelis nor the US sees what a disadvantage they are laboring under with nuclear threats and weapons, etc. in the area. Both US and Israel would be much more secure without them.
If the US or Israel wants Doomsday, they will get it from the Iranians, and in the end not only economically but from their own weapons of mass destruction.
The real strategic genius of the Iranians, like the Russian genius, as well as the Chinese, is that they are defensive.
Mutatis mutandis, the lunacy of both Israel and the US, as Germany in the past, is their pathological occupation with offense, including aggression and subjugation, physical and psychological.
It appears terrorist Israel has made more threats then Iran.
