At least five people have been killed and an unknown number of others wounded Monday in various Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon. At least one of the slain was a woman, targeted outside the women’s Islamic center in Zefta.
Zefta appeared to be the main site of casualties so far on Monday, with at least four people killed in strikes centering on the Islamic center, the school, and the town center, while also destroying a civilian home elsewhere in town.
Roughly a dozen other strikes were reported in and around the city of Tyre, though only one of the strikes was confirmed to have caused casualties. That attack targeted a car near the Red Cross office in the city, killing one and wounding several others around the area.

The Lebanese Health Ministry has reported that Israel has killed 3,637 people and wounded 11,188 others in Lebanon since they invaded the country in early March. Roughly half of that period was nominally during a state of “ceasefire,” though Israel never actually stopped firing throughout.
The Lebanese Prime Minister’s office has reported Israel to have carried out 3,491 airstrikes in the country from the start of the ceasefire on April 17 through the end of Sunday, June 7. Today’s strikes put that number somewhat over 3,500, and Israel shows no sign of slowing down.
The office also reported that the IDF has demolished over 400 buildings in southern Lebanon during the ceasefire. This has mostly been in the villages near the Blue Line, with an eye toward preventing the displaced populations from returning to the border areas.
Overwhelmingly, attacks during the ceasefire have been around southern Lebanon, with some strikes in the Bekaa Valley to the further east and a handful of strikes, like the ones yesterday, targeting the capital city of Beirut.
