Israel’s campaign of attacks against southern Lebanon continued on Monday, with drone strikes hitting multiple locations and killing one person, while wounding at least two others.
The deadly strike took place against the border village of Houla, killing a man standing in front of his home. The IDF later issued a statement claiming that the person slain was a member of Hezbollah’s “elite Radwan Force.”
The Radwan Force is Hezbollah’s special forces unit, and it is relatively common for Israel to proclaim people they’ve slain in Lebanon as members. As is so often the case, however, there is as of yet no evidence made available to the public the shows this to actually be the case.
Last week, nearly everyone Israel killed in Lebanon was claimed a Hezbollah figure or a commander. The one exception was the Thursday strike against Yohmor, which killed a man near a bulldozer. The IDF didn’t issue any statement at all on that incident.
Other drone strikes were reported against Bodai, near Baalbek, and targeting a motorcycle in Srebbine, where at least two people were reported wounded. The casualties in those incidents have not been identified.
It is quite common for the IDF to target motorcycles in Lebanon, and generally if the person is killed it is presented that they were a Hezbollah operative engaged in some sort of activity in violation of the ceasefire.
Since Israeli forces destroyed most of the functional vehicles in southern Lebanon during the invasion in 2024, they seem to assume anything still operating must’ve been hidden by Hezbollah during the war.
In practice though, a lot of the vehicles are people trying to return to the area since the IDF occupation withdrew from villages along the border, and have kept the Israeli government attacking people who are looking to see if their homes were among those burnt to the ground during the occupation.
