Over 130 Houthis Killed in Strikes Near Yemen’s Maarib

Attacks in Maarib and Bayda

Saudi officials say that in the past 24 hours, they’ve killed more than 130 Houthis in strikes, mostly in Maarib, but also in Bayda Province, just to the south.

These sort of daily death tolls are common through the past couple of months of the Maarib battle. The Houthis have taken more and more areas around Maarib City, and nearly have it surrounded.

As the territory changing hands in Maarib slows down, more and more strikes are being reported in Bayda and Shabwa. The southern provinces have been contested for some time.

This underscores that even if Maarib falls outright, there is no guarantee that peace talks will immediately follow, though with less and less territory under Saudi control, expectations are that the Saudis may soon try to extricate themselves from the war.
