As part of its modernization efforts, the US Army is developing medium and long-range missiles, which the service sees as a vital weapon in a potential conflict with China in the Pacific.
While the Army is traditionally a land-based service, it is developing fast-moving island-hopping forces that can sink ships in the western Pacific, similar to what the Marine Corps has traditionally done.
On Tuesday, US Army leaders discussed the service’s future in the Indo-Pacific and said the Army is not trying to compete for funding with the Marine Corps or other branches as military leaders fear resources will be limited.
“The systems we’re developing are more along the lines of a campaign rather than quickly expeditionary-type systems. And so I don’t see us in competition with the Marine Corps.” Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. James McConville told the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Gen. Paul LaCamera, the head of US Army Pacific, said the Army could complement the Marines in the region. “So, I think whether they [the Marines] are there first [and] we come in behind them, that allows them to continue to move on,” he said. The US Marines are also in the process of revamping their forces to prepare for a future conflict in the Pacific.
US-Indo Pacific Command has its hand out to Congress for an additional $27 billion in funding. Part of the command’s wishlist includes a network of long-range missiles near China’s coast, although it’s not clear what countries would be willing to host the missiles.
The Army officers were asked on Tuesday how the US could get allies in the region to host such missiles. “That’s a political decision,” McConville said. “The [Biden] administration will, I believe, lead with a policy, and that will be shaped by diplomacy between our countries.”

” the US Army is developing medium and long-range missiles..”
They do not need to, they have them. Its just a scam to take taxpayer $ for unneeded projects…PORKY PIG Red Flag.
We need medium and long range missiles? I thought that we had silos full of the things out in the Dakotas?
I guess our carriers are volnerable and would have to stay out of range in an all out war so the Planners think we have to do something, but it’s probably to little to late. How about stop threatening and supplying the region with more and more weapons of war. No one wants a war but no one wants to be Continually pushed around. Let’s stop with the primitive stuff and start figuring a better way we can all co exist.
Meanwhile the world’s most sold electrical vehicle is the Wulin Hongguang Mini. Chinese made.
As far as I know, there are medium and long-range missiles hidden in parts of Australia aiming at Chinese and Russian targets.
My suspicion is they belong to the US not Australia. The Australian government has been keeping a lot of secrets from their people and Aussies will argue with me there are no medium and long-range missiles hidden. I can be sure there are.
I feel sorry for the people in these countries that are bribed to be “Part of the command’s wishlist includ”(ed) in the network of long-range missiles near China’s coast”, although it’s not clear what countries would be willing to host the missiles. Oh yeah I bet it’s not clear!!! Because in case of highly escelated tensions or conflict, these hypothetical “Hotspots” would likely be leveled as the first unexplained blips appear along the trajectory track from that “host to anyplace in China. Anyone in the “host Country would be likely vaporized before any missiles got out of their silos is my assesment of the potential of “being a host to the missiles.
They would probably not be there when the missiles fly. The leaders who got the cash to host would probably be in Vegas playing with high stakes show girls in some “Private Reserve” rooms for “VIPs”. Not in the Pacific area where the sky will fall.
The problem with people from these host countries strongly believes the US can protect them from every single retaliatory missles if missles is launch from their countries into China & Russia.
What they did not know, refuse to believe that American anti-ballistic missile defense system promise to them by the US is not 100% effective.
These are the things I keep hearing Australians, Filipinos, Indians, etc telling me. They also fail to know that it is only their leaders and military commanders have bunkers to protect them but there is no bunkers for them the civilians.
