Israeli Coalition Chairman: No Palestinian State While I’m Around

Says Holy Land 'ours and ours alone'

Likud MP Miki Zohar says he is opposed to the Palestinians having any state, and will not permit its establishment so long as he chairs the coalition government.

Zohar says Israel must apply sovereignty in the occupied territories through annexation, adding that the Holy Land “is ours alone.” The annexations are cutting deep into Palestinian lands.

Annexing the West Bank, however, is at least as much about taking from the Palestinians as it is adding land to Israel. Israeli MPs see an opportunity as Trump endorses them taking whatever they want.

Ideological opposition to a Palestinian state mostly centers on resenting the Palestinians for resisting the occupation. Internationally, however, many oppose annexation and are open to recognizing a unilateral Palestinian state.
